THOMAS â€”Â The Twin Buttes LIons Club honored its members Thursday evening. The awards ceremony took place in the Snake River High School cafeteria.
The Twin Buttes Lions club members raised $1,100 that went to help pay for chairs in the new cafeteria.
Club members Duane Jensen, Alden and Glenna Hale each received the Melvin Jones Fellowship award. This award recognizes extraordinary service to the community and club.
The award is named after the Lions Club founder Melvin Jones, who chartered the first Lions Club in 1917 in Chicago.
BLACKFOOT â€” An increase in the need for emergency food boxes has severely depleted the supply of dry foods in the food bank at the Southeastern Idaho Community Action Agency in Blackfoot.
Bingham County Program Coordinator Bobette Jackson said they are in dire need of dry foods such as cereals, pastas, rice, beans, pancake or muffin mix and items such as Hamburger Helper, ramen noodles and macaroni and cheese. They will also accept cash donations to purchase food.
BLACKFOOT â€” The Blackfoot Broncos returned to the diamond on Wednesday afternoon, welcoming conference foe Rigby to town for a double-dip between the two schools.
At the end of a long afternoon, the Broncos found themselves on the right end of a sweep, winning game one 7-1 and then the nightcap 12-6.

Scott Campfield, 41, of Blackfoot, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at his home.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot.
REXBURG â€” VaLayne Weeks, 57, of Rexburg, passed into our Fatherâ€™s loving arms on April 5, 2011, at Madison Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 2, 1953 in Pocatello to Don and Elaine Mangum.
A beloved wife, mother of 11, grammie of 23, sister, daughter and friend, she was a â€śgroupieâ€ť and loved spending time with everyone in her large family! She loved life and was a very positive and happy person. She had a heart of Gold and shared it with everyone she met.
FIRTH â€” Students across the state of Idaho will meet today through Saturday to compete in STAR (Students Taking Action for Recognition) as part of the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) state competition.
From Firth High School, 12 FCCLA members will compete in nine STAR event areas. Stephanie Lathrop is a candidate for state office.
Firth FCCLA advisor Janice Anthony has taken teams to state competition for 22 years.
"What I like about STAR events is the growth I see in the students," Anthony said. "This competition challenges them; it makes them grow.
BLACKFOOT â€” The second annual Bingham's Got Talent will be Friday, May 6 at 7 p.m. at the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center. Admission will be $3 at the door.

Bingham's Got Talent is a fundraiser by the Angels Among Us Relay for Life team. All proceeds from the event will go to the American Cancer Society.
BLACKFOOT â€” Water will begin filling the lake at Jensen Grove this weekend and city officials are hoping improvements at the park will attract more people to the area.
Blackfoot Mayor Mike Virtue said they have waited to fill the lake until additional dock anchors were installed and a retaining wall to secure the shoreline near the amphitheater was complete. The new docks, to be located between the boat ramp and the amphitheater, will be installed this week. The retaining wall was finished in March.
Edward Allen Harrison, 89, of Aberdeen passed away Monday, April 4, 2011, at Bingham Memorial Hospital and Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Blackfoot.Â
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at the Aberdeen LDS Church.
Family will meet with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
Arrangements are under the care of Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot.

BLACKFOOT â€” Those applying for a garden plot in the Blackfoot Community Garden will be required to attend a registration meeting Saturday.
The meeting will be at 10 a.m. at Jason Lee Memorial United Methodist Church at 168 S. University. Garden plots vary in size from 4 feet by 4 feet raised beds up to ground plots as large as 20 feet by 20 feet. A $30 garden membership fee is required.
