Blaine Wesley Jensen, 75

September 2, 2014

Blaine Wesley Jensen, 75 of Blackfoot, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born June 10, 1939 in Blackfoot, Idaho, the second child of James W. Jensen and Ruby Parrish Jensen. The family moved from Rockford to a small home where the American Potato business now sits; to a rented home in Blackfoot for one winter; to Wapello for two years on the farm now owned by Carl Cooper and then to Pingree.

Isabell Carlson, 98
"I was born in Starr's Ferry, Idaho, just four miles out of Burley on Jan. 12, 1916 to Ensign Henry Stocking and Isabelle Verena Shields Stocking.
I was one of 6 children — Leona, Elizabeth, Lamont, James, Emma and me, the youngest. We had an 80-acre farm and there I learned a great love for Idaho history and the Oregon Trail, spending much time at the City of Rocks.

Betty Jane Wilcox 89

Betty Jane Wilcox 89, of Aberdeen died peacefully in her home on August 28, 2014 following an extended illness. Her family has no doubt that she is grateful to be reunited the love of her life, Arden, and her family who preceded her in death. Betty is remembered by family and friends as an adoring wife, mother and grandmother. She was a kind neighbor and was always willing to help someone in need.

It is with great sorrow that the family of Bo Jody Taylor, 19, of Blackfoot, Idaho announces his passing on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014 in Montpelier, Idaho from injuries sustained in an accident while doing what he enjoyed and loved.
Bo was born Jan. 12, 1995 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the son of Jody Taylor and April Collins.
Bo graduated from Butte High School in Butte, Montana. Bo was an all-around athlete. He excelled in track, wrestling and his favorite of all, football, where he and his teammates brought home the state championship his senior year.

Trenton Erland Sorensen, 46

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness that is felt to announce the passing of Trenton Erland Sorensen, 46, of Blackfoot, Idaho Thursday, August 28, 2014 in Montpelier, Idaho from injuries sustained in an accident while doing what he loved. 
Trent was born November 10, 1967 in Pocatello, Idaho the son of Erland O Sorensen and Delores Irene Findlay Sorensen.
Trent lived his life in Blackfoot. He graduated from Blackfoot High School.
On November 21, 1987, he married his high school sweetheart Kimi Taylor in Blackfoot, Idaho. Together they started their greatest legacy; their family.

Remodeling leads to treasure

It's amazing what you can find when you remodel your home.
Dennis and Cathy Hansen from Kimball were remodeling their home this summer. The Hansens' home is a big white house that stands south of Kimball Hill near Firth.
As they took off an old door frame, they found a century old letter from James E. Good, the prosecuting attorney for Bingham County in 1914.
The letter is dated Aug. 1, 1914.
It reads: "To the Voters of Bingham, Custer and Lemhi Counties:

Man dies after stabbing

MORNING NEWS
FORT HALL — A Fort Hall man has died following a late-night stabbing on the reservation on Friday.
According to the Fort Hall Police, someone in the area of Edmo Road called an reported a fight in progress about 11:10 p.m. When police arrived, they found a Native American man with a stab wound.
Medical personnel took the man to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello where he was pronounced dead.
The FBI and Fort Hall Police are continuing their investigation.

Russets shut down Crusaders 27-0

POCATELLO – Shelley head football coach Travis Hobson may have earned himself a new nickname Saturday afternoon; the nickname? Mr. Fourth Down.
Hobson’s Russets converted on five fourth downs in the first half, three of those five into touchdowns as Shelley opened the 2014 season with a 27-0 thrashing of Faith Lutheran High School out of Las Vegas in the Rocky Mountain Rumble inside Holt Arena Saturday.

Hayes, Peterson lead Blackfoot to 20-14 win over Hillcrest in opener

BLACKFOOT — With the game tied 14-14 a little more than a minute left in the game Blackfoot sophomore quarterback Pacen Hayes had 85 yards standing between himself and a potential game-winning touchdown.
Hayes calmly marched the Broncos down the field completing three passes the last being a 26-yard touchdown pass to Matt Peterson to give the Broncos a 20-14 win over Hillcrest to kick-off the 2014 season.
The final drive led by Hayes was helped out by a pair of Knights penalties and some solid blocking by the Broncos offensive line.

Two Blackfoot men die in an industrial accident

Two Blackfoot men died in an industrial accident in Georgetown, Idaho, on Thursday. The victims are 45-year-old Trent Sorensen and 19-year-old Bo Taylor.
The accident occurred during work on the Georgetown City Sewer Project.
Sorensen and Taylor were attempting to repair a leak inside a manhole.
