Annette Stephenson, 71, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Annette was born Jan. 24, 1943 in Ogden, Utah to John Barron Edward and Donna Malan.Â She attended grade school in Sumatra, Mont. and high school in Melstone, Mont.Â She went on to continue her education at Brigham Young University and Idaho State University and received her bachelorâ€™s degree in Education.Â She lived most of her life in the Blackfoot area, including Tabor and Wapello.
Annette married Kay Verl Stephenson.Â They were later divorced.
BLACKFOOT â€” After battling back to tie the second game of their doubleheader with the Pocatello Rebels on Tuesday at Blackfoot High School, the Broncos needed to score three runs in the bottom of the eighth to avoid a sweep.
But after getting one run on an sacrifice fly by Kyle Scott, the Broncos were unable to get the tying run across as they stranded the tying and winning runs on base to end the game.
Pocatello earned the doubleheader sweep with a pair of late rallies wining game one 8-4 and game two 8-7.
Donna Marie Crabtree, 81, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at The Syringa Chalet.
She was born October 1, 1932 to Arnold James Glassner and Carmen Zabach in Sanger, California.
She was a California native spending her youth in Sanger, California.Â Later, she and her mother moved to San Francisco, CA.Â
On February 12, 1955, Donna married Charles Crabtree.Â
Blackfoot School District officials assured a good-sized group of patrons, many of whom are Blackfoot Band Boosters, that eliminating the Blackfoot Sixth Grade School's band program "never entered their thoughts."
Olive VonNiese Stringham Munson Johannesen, 83,Â passed away at a local care facility on June 20, 2014 in Blackfoot, Idaho. Â
She was born October 14, 1930 in Bone, Idaho to Platte Lyman and Ruby Ann Jones Stringham.Â She graduated from Moreland High School in 1948.
On March 22, 1949 VonNiese married Donald Ross Munson.Â They had four children, Dennis Platte, Lelend Ross, Donna Jean, and Edwin Von.Â Don passed away in 1996. Â Â
Kenneth Finis Brown, 92, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at his home in Blackfoot, Idaho. Â
Much admired for his heroic work for veterans, Ken's life will be celebrated at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder, Nev.
Ken was preceded in death by three wives: Margaret Seagle, Lorraine Henderson, and Sonja Plesko; his parents Glen and Ruth Brown, and his son, Kenneth. Â
FIRTH â€“ An unidentified white substance was delivered to the Firth Post Office on Saturday.
The unidentified substance was delivered in a container, called a flat tub, that is used to deliver general purpose mail to post offices. This flat tub came from Pocatello.
As postal employee Tanya Crofts was preparing and sorting mail, she noticed some powder on her hands and in the container, said Firth Postmaster Mel Hill. There was maybe a teaspoon full of powder.
BLACKFOOT â€” Coming into Sunday's final round of the 53rd annual George Von Elm Golf Tournament Chris Reinke found himself sitting in fourth place three shots behind first round leader Clayton Brown.
By the end of the day Sunday Reinke found himself as the new Von Elm champion.
Reinke shot a final round 72 to win the tournament by three strokes shooting a 146 for the two days.
Josh Nunamaker and Nick Higham who started the day in Sunday tied for second, finished the tournament tied for second shooting a 149 for the weekend.
Country and bluegrass music fans enjoyed a unique "backstage" concert experience with the duo "Otter Creek" at the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center on Friday evening.
The husband and wife team Peter and Mary Danzig, who (with 10 instruments and 53 strings), invited their three daughters - Eliza (14), Kjersten (12) and Lucy (9) on stage, entertaining with classic country hits, lively bluegrass jigs, folk music and some fast-paced fiddle playing - all interjected with humor and storytelling.
BLACKFOOTâ€”An important meeting to discuss upcoming changes in the Blackfoot Sixth Grade School's (BSGS) band program will be held on Monday 6 p.m. at the BSGS (50 S. Shilling).
There has been concern in the district about band program being pulled from the school curriculum and converted to an "after school program" at Mountain View Middle School
