BLACKFOOT â€“ They werenâ€™t exactly a swarm of locusts, but those who attended the Emanuel Lutheran Cookie Festival on Saturday quickly got what they wanted.
â€śI knew to get here at 11 because theyâ€™re gone in a hurry,â€ť said Jeanne Hoover. â€śI come to get good cookies and to help support the charities.â€ť
The sale of the cookies was scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. but the selection was best for those who came at opening time.
Many people have been coming for many years. The Festival was in its 18th year.
Juell Stewart, however, was a first-time attendee.
An accident involving a semi-trailer and a passenger car blocked a section of Highway 91 between Blackfoot and the south interchange at Exit 89 Friday morning.
Emergency crews from Blackfoot and Fort Hall were dispatched to the accident, which occurred at approximately 10 a.m. Officers from Idaho State Police, Blackfoot Police and the Bingham County Sheriff were also dispatched to assist.
BLACKFOOT (AP) â€” Four former Blackfoot High School athletes have been charged with various misdemeanors as well as felony counts of forcible sexual penetration using a foreign object.
Three of the four adults have gone on to college to play football, but two of them have been suspended from their teams.
BLACKFOOT â€“Â Stillwaters Counseling in Blackfoot was notified Friday that the partial care program for children with severe emotional disorders and children at risk of out-of-home placement has been cut by the Department of Health and Welfare. While government funding for the program ends Dec. 31 counselors and social workers at Stillwaters are determined to find a way to continue service. However they admit they will need the communityâ€™s help.
BLACKFOOT â€” The four former Blackfoot athletes facing charges relating to hazing incidents in the past year have been served and are scheduled to appear in front of Magistrate Judge Charles Roos Dec. 23. A fifth individual will also be charged but is not being identified because he was a juvenile at the time the incidents occurred.

The investigation is ongoing.

BLACKFOOT â€“ Blackfoot native Trina Hawker is one positive and enthusiastic teacher. She teaches choir at Mountain View Middle School (MVMS) and Blackfoot Sixth Grade School.
â€śI absolutely love my job,â€ť Hawker said. â€śI love being a choir teacher.
â€śMy mom said I was singing as soon as I could speak,â€ť she said. â€śI am the oldest of six and our parents put all of us in piano lessons.
