Economic Symposium Thursday

Bingham Economic Development Corporation's 1st annual Economic Symposium is Thursday, Nov. 3, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Tommy Vaughn's Grill in Blackfoot. There is still space for a few more people to attend the symposium. To register call 680-8364. The cost is $25 and includes lunch.

The featured guest speaker and presenter is Dr. Gary Rhoads from BYU-Provo Entrepreneurial and Technology Department who is well-known throughout the Intermountain West as an expert in economic and entrepreneurial ventures.

Most Yellowstone roads to close Monday

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — Roads to most of Yellowstone National Park's popular tourist spots, including Old Faithful, are scheduled to be closed Monday for the winter season.

After the roads are closed, park staff are expected to begin preparing for limited, commercially guided snowmobile and snow coach travel during the winter season, which begins Dec. 15.

Charter high school plans moving forward

BLACKFOOT — Organizers of a public charter high school expect their petition to be heard by the Idaho Public Charter School Commission in December and are moving forward with their effort to open the school next fall.
The Idaho STEM Academy, a proposed charter high school focusing on science, technology, engineering and mathematics education, brought their petition to the Blackfoot School Board of Trustees in September. The board waived the decision during their October meeting to the state Charter School Commission, who will meet Dec. 15.
