BHS students take a stand against tobacco

BLACKFOOT — A small group of students from Blackfoot High School have banded together and are taking a stand against tobacco use.
The Blackfoot High School Drama Club is a recipient of one of 10 Support Teens Against Nicotine Dependency (STAND) grants from the American Lung Association. All students at the high school are welcome to join the effort of educating their peers and younger generations about tobacco prevention and providing information about tobacco cessation.

Pair of hazing suspects get trial dates

BLACKFOOT — Two of the five former Blackfoot High School athletes charged with various criminal offenses that occurred a year ago during basketball season are scheduled to appear in court in Bingham County next month for a jury trial. The juvenile also charged is scheduled for trial later this month.
Magistrate Judge Charles Roos said he would do whatever necessary to ensure a trial would occur next month, saying that he believes it is in the best interest of the community to have a speedy trial.
"We're going to try this case in March," Roos said.

Bank of Commerce celebrates grand opening

BLACKFOOT — Dignitaries from the Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce joined those from the Bank of Commerce to celebrate the opening of the bank's new facility on Tuesday.
"We've had a great relationship with Blackfoot and Bingham County," said Tom Romrell, president and CEO of the Bank of Commerce. "Our business has grown so much that we could not service the demand at our old building. We needed to enlarge our parking area and our consumer area."
The new building at 624 Jensen Grove Drive does that.
