BLACKFOOT — When it came time to leave his job in Kansas City for a move back west, Dennis Hansen turned his attention to Blackfoot, Idaho.
"My brother (Larry) had moved here two or three years earlier and liked it," said Hansen, who grew up in Nebraska and Wyoming. "I wanted to go somewhere in the West and back to the mountains."
That was 37 years ago. Hansen and his wife Gloria built a home and a life in Blackfoot.
YUMA, Ariz. — Albert and Sharon Gardner, former Blackfoot residents who now live in Arizona, returned to Yuma this week after flying nearly 12,000 miles -- equal to traveling halfway around the world. The trip was the culmination of a longtime desire that Albert had to land his airplane in every contiguous state of the Union. The plane is a home-built craft that he constructed in his garage. Prior to this summer he had landed the plane in every state west of the Mississippi.
