November 20th
POCATELLO — The Eastern Idaho Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee's new training center in Pocatello was dedicated Friday night to Jon F. Walters. Walters is a longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 449 and is a resident of Moreland.
Walters retired in 2008, capping a 48-year career with the IBEW. He completed his Inside Apprenticeship Program in 1960 and became a journeyman wireman. He served as business manager of Local 449 from 1977 to 1982.
November 18th
BLACKFOOT — In October, Ashfork Sanitation received the bid to haul solid waste from Bingham County's transfer station to Bannock County Landfill. Ashfork's bid was $7.60 per ton.
Thursday, Richard Stokes, owner of Ashfork Sanitation, and the Bingham County commissioners agreed to a "hold harmless clause."
"That's legalese for everyone walks away clean," said Mark Cornelison, Civil Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Bingham County.
The two issues of disagreement were the unevenness of the loads (weight consistency) and the loading itself.
BOISE – Members of the families of murder victims Stacy Baldwin, Nolan Haddon and Susan Michelbacher witnessed the administration of justice on Friday.
They watched from outside the execution chamber as Paul Ezra Rhoades, convicted in the 1987 deaths of the three, was executed. He received a lethal injection of drugs in the execution chamber of the Idaho Maximum Security Institution at 8:53 a.m. and Erwin Sonnenberg, the Ada County coroner, pronounced Rhoades dead at 9:15 a.m. Friday.
Gov. Otter releases statement on execution of Rhoades
BOISE — Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter released this statement today following the execution of Paul Ezra Rhoades.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho prison officials executed Paul Ezra Rhoades on Friday for his role in the 1987 murders of two women, marking the state's first execution in 17 years.
Rhoades, 54, was declared dead at 9:15 a.m. at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution after being administered three separate drugs that make up the state's new lethal injection protocol.
In his final statement, Rhoades said goodbye to his mother, apologized for one of the murders he was convicted of, and forgave state officials for the execution.

BLACKFOOT – Lt. Paul Newbold is counting down the hours to the execution of Paul Ezra Rhoades on Friday. Lt. Newbold was just 27 years old and had been a detective for less than one year when Rhoades' reign of terror in Bingham County began in 1987.
BLACKFOOT — As they talked about Friday's scheduled execution of their son's killer on Wednesday, Junior and Julie Haddon often became emotional.
Paul Ezra Rhoades murdered 20-year-old Nolan Haddon at an Idaho Falls convenience store on March 16, 1987. If the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals doesn't intervene, as Rhoades' attorneys have asked it to do, he will be executed at 8 a.m. on Friday.
"No, it don't," Junior Haddon said of Rhoades' death bringing closure. "It don't close anything. It just finalizes it."
November 15th
BLACKFOOT — Three people were arrested on drug trafficking charges Monday after an investigation by the Bingham County Sheriff's Office and Bear River Drug Task Force revealed the trio was in possession of 2.7 pounds of marijuana.
The Bingham County Sheriff's Office received an anonymous tip Nov. 12 that indicated drugs were to be transported to the Blackfoot area in a U-Haul truck from California. The U-Haul truck was located Sunday behind a residence west of Blackfoot at 1274 Hoff Road.

Missing person James Clarke has been located and is safe and with his family. The Blackfoot Police thanks everyone who helped spread the message.
BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Police Department is seeking information about a missing Blackfoot man who was last in contact with family Nov. 10.
James Clarke, 85, is a white male. He is 5-foot 10 and weighs 160 pounds with grey hair and grey eyes.
Clarke left Blackfoot Nov. 10 en -route to Warsaw, Mo. He was driving a silver 2005 Chevrolet Malibu four-door sedan with Idaho license plate 4B 7040.
BOISE (AP) — The attorneys for condemned Idaho inmate Paul Ezra Rhoades have filed an emergency appeal to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court in hopes of staving off the execution set for Friday morning.
