In accordance with Idaho Code, members of the Blackfoot School District No. 55 board of trustees passed a resolution to ask Bingham County for a special election "on the next available date."
That special election in August will address the petition to recall trustee Peter A. Lipovac. The board voted 4-0 to submit the resolution with Lipovac abstaining.
"Under advice of my attorney, I'm not going to say anything," Lipovac said following the vote. "But, I will be coming out with a letter shortly."
Lipovac has the right to respond to the recall petition's charges on the same ballot.
Step into Mike Krehbiel's Barn Event Center and you could be transported back in time.
The walls of the facility at 305 South Broadway are covered with advertising signs from as far back as the 1930s and as recently as last year.
"I started collecting signs about 1985," Krehbiel said. "Currently I have over 300."
One of the oldest extols the virtues of a company called Stoker-matic. Another, probably from the 1940s, encourages customers to buy Cream Top Dairy products. Both are hand-painted and the dairy sign includes the signature of "Sato Signs."
