The gymnasium at the Idaho Science and Technology Center Charter School was filled with information, science projects and trinkets from other countries. Children sat amongst their projects anxiously waiting for the judges to come and ask them questions.
Blackfoot High School automotive students placed one-two in the State Skills USA competition last week in Boise.
James Montgomery earned gold; Josh Spiegel took silver. Both are seniors at BHS.
Because of his gold medal finish, Montgomery qualified to compete in the National Skills USA competition June 23-27 in Kansas City, Mo.
Out of 100 competitors, Montgomery was one of seven who succeeded in starting the engine of the car on which he was working.
Spiegel was about five seconds away from turning over his car's engine.
