Rotary Club presents new mascot statue to BHS

November 7, 2013

Blackfoot High School has a new addition.  On Thursday high school administrators unveiled a new mascot statue: a rearing bronco which stands 10 feet tall.
The bucking bronco statue is the 2013 service project of the Blackfoot Rotary Club.
"Our goal is to make our world and our nation and our community better places," said club president David Cannon.  "This year's service project will rally school spirit, as well as a sense of unity among the community."
Cannon's grandfather was an active member in the Rotarian community until his final years.

Mayoral candidates speak out on election experience

November 7, 2013

BLACKFOOT—While four of Blackfoot's mayoral candidates may be resting this week, for Paul Loomis and Dan Cravens - it's time for a second round.
It's no surprise that the six man mayoral race has resulted in a runoff election between the two candidates with the most votes - from Tuesday's city election. It's a city law that a mayoral candidate receive 50 percent of the votes (plus one) in order to claim the election. Loomis received the most votes of 667, followed by Cravens - who garnered 452 votes. The two will go 'head to head' in a runoff election scheduled for Dec. 3.
