Benjamin Sorensen, 36, of Blackfoot hit the end of a guard rail on the right side of Interstate 15 at milepost 109 on Monday afternoon. He then continued driving south in the burrow pit, aiming to return to the Interstate. Sorensen hit the bridge and had enough momentum to get across the irrigation canal.
When stopped, the pickup was resting on the passenger side, just south of the irrigation canal. The grill of the Chevy pickup was pushed in and the front wheel on the driver's side had come off.
