Vets to be honored today

BLACKFOOT — A ceremony to honor four veterans from Bingham County will take place at 4 p.m. today at the veterans' monument in front of the Bingham County Courthouse. The public is welcome to attend.
Scott Summers, acting maintenance director in the courthouse, is spearheading the plan to refurbish this monument.
"We want to include the name of every person from Bingham County on the monument who is a veteran," he said. "The commissioners and the county have plans to rework this monument.

Fireworks an important part of Pride Days, 4th celebration

Bingham County residents won't have to drive to a big city to see some great fireworks on the 4th of July. Bingham Memorial Hospital has stepped up to be the title sponsor, in conjunction with the Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce, for what is to be a spectacular firework show, starting at 10 p.m., over Blackfoot's own Jensen Grove Lake.

Shelley sweeps Idaho Falls in Legion baseball play

After watching their final game of the Idaho Sporting Goods Wood Bat Tournament get cancelled after a four-hour delay thanks in part to a monsoon that blew through Pocatello Saturday night, the Shelley Russets American Legion baseball team took to the field Tuesday.
While not as hot as it has been, the temperature hovered in the low 90’s at Tautphaus Park in Idaho Falls, it was the humidity and the threat of rain that the fans wishing for a quick two games.
As uncomfortable as it was to watch, the Russets' batters seemed to like the conditions just fine.
