ITD seeks comment on Rose/Firth exit

An Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) open house drew a steady stream of people into Blackfoot City Hall Thursday to view and comment on four potential improvement options for the Rose Interchange (Exit 98 - the Rose/Firth area exit.).
Adam Rush, the ITD's public involvement coordinator, said that the department has taken a closer look at the ramp after a routine infrastructure check and believe that, based on its wear and tear and anticipated growth in the area, the interchange could potentially be included in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP) for 2018.

Dr. Newhouse joins BMH

BLACKFOOT — Orthopedic surgeon Kenneth Newhouse, M.D., has recently joined the Orthopedic Institute at Bingham Memorial Hospital (BMH).
"It is the largest orthopedic group in southeastern Idaho," Newhouse said. "In the group are six orthopedic surgeons as well as doctors trained in primary care sports medicine and a team of trainers and physical therapists."
"I'm excited to work with Bingham," he said. "It's a great organization; it's very progressive."
Newhouse's office is in Pocatello. Offices hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Triple celebration coming to potato museum

BLACKFOOT—The city and county are teaming up for triple celebration on Aug. 16 at the Idaho Potato Museum.
It is the 100th anniversary of the building which was formerly Blackfoot's train station, donated to the city in 1987.
Additionally, it is the 30th anniversary of the Bingham County Historical Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the history of Bingham County and surrounding areas.
