The City of Blackfoot confirmed on Monday that a seventh person - Kurt Williams Ricks- has declared intent to run for Blackfoot nayor. Since the deadline to file for candidacy has passed, Ricks will run as a write-in candidate.
While Ricks' name won't officially be on the ballot, he joins fellow candidates Dan Cravens, Rick Bigler, Carlos Mercardo, Carlos Martinez, Paul Loomis and John Hoobler in his quest for Blackfoot's top leadership position.
Ricks, who has lived in Blackfoot for 15 years, says he is a concerned citizen who sees some problems in the city.
BLACKFOOT—At the age of just two or three, it was obvious to the parents of Blackfoot tattoo artist Durst Hayden that their son was a gifted artist and would go on to do great things with his talent.
"When I was little I'd spend hours drawing detailed pictures of monsters, trucks and airplanes," he said. "My mother, who was a Born Again Christian, always told me 'God has a big plan for you.' "
His father, who Hayden said, 'was born into and died in a rough biker gang,' wanted something better for his son, and told him, "I am an example of what 'I don't want you to become.' "
