BOISE â€” Afton Dorothea Hill Benson, 90 of Boise, who formerly lived in Blackfoot, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011, due to a rare form of lymphoma cancer.
She was born Feb. 12, 1921, in Churchill, Idaho, to John Hyrum Hill Sr., and Olea Shipp Hill, and was the youngest of seven children. Aftonâ€™s parents were sheep ranchers and farmers who were poor in money matters during the Great Depression but had abundant love for one another and provided a happy home. Their recreation was gathering around the piano while their mother played and they sang and harmonized.
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah â€” Michael Clarence Holmes, 63, passed away on July 3, 2011 in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a battle with cancer.
Michael ( Mike ) was born in Pocatello to Richard LeRoy and Pauline Seidel Holmes; he was the eldest of eight children. Mikeâ€™s dad worked construction so the family moved around during his childhood. After high school Mike joined the Army and during his tour in Vietnam he drove a supply truck. After returning home he worked as a fireman in Blackfoot.
Ileen was born to Stanely (Pug) and Eva Going on April 1, 1955, in Blackfoot. She passed away on Dec. 14, 2010, in Aurora, Colo.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Tera DeLoera, and her grandson Jack. She is also survived by brothers Stan, Dennis, Neal, Curtis and John and their families. She was preceded in death by her brother Leon and her parents.
To celebrate Ileenâ€™s lovely and loving spirit, family and friends are invited to the home of Stan and Susie Going, 198 S. 900 W., Blackfoot on Saturday, July 9, 2011, from 3 to 5 p.m.
Berniece Melba Jones, 69, of Blackfoot passed away, Monday, July 4, 2011, at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 1, 1941, in Aberdeen to William and Christine Morris.
Berniece was raised in Aberdeen and attended grade school and high school there.Â She studied nursing at Idaho State University and continued her studies while she worked as a registered nurse in Boise and Portland, Ore.Â She moved to Blackfoot in the early 70â€™s and had resided there since.Â She worked as a registered nurse atÂ Bingham Memorial Hospital until her retirement.
Lisa Christensen Warwick, 45, of Goshen passed away on June 30, 2011.
Lisa was born on Sept. 15, 1965, in Blackfoot to Barry L. and Elaine Steffler Christensen. She was one of seven children born to the family. She attended school in the Firth School District and Career Beauty College in Rexburg, obtaining her beauty license.
On Nov. 2, 1984, she married her sweetheart and best friend, Randy Richard Warwick in Basalt.
Kent George Gentry, 56, of Blackfoot passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
Kent was born on April 8, 1955, in Blackfoot and was raised by his mother Bonnie and stepfather Frank Gentry.
BOISE â€” Marco Bates, 35, passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, in Boise.
Marco was born on Aug. 1, 1975, in Fuerth, Germany, to Ilse Roedl. When Marco was two, his mother married Danny Bates who was stationed in Germany with the United States Army.
Danny adopted Marco and he became an official Bates family member. Shortly after, Marco and his mother immigrated to the United States, living in Blackfoot and Danny later joined them. Marco then became the proud brother of his sister Daniela Bates.
Julia Roper Gulbransen, 96, formerly of Shelley, passed away June 29, 2011, at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living in Idaho Falls.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at the Shelley First Ward Chapel (184 North Park Ave.). The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Tuesday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. before the services at the church.Â Interment will be at 3 p.m. in the Thatcher Cemetery.

Word has been received of the death of Lunetta Nelson Kent of San Jose, California on June 21, 2011 at the home of her daughter, Vicky Clark, at the age of 94. She was born on April 3, 1917 to Neils and Ella Rockwood Nelson. She was raised in Iona and lived in Idaho Falls before moving to California 1949.
Brad Joseph Remer, 62, of Arco, Idaho, passed away on June 28, 2011 in Twin Bridges, Montana after doing what he loved, competing at a rodeo.
Brad was born on June 15, 1949 in Townsend, Montana to Clarence Edward â€śReamâ€ť and Elizabeth Illene Remer. Montana is where he resided, until his parents settled in the Twin Falls area. He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1967.
He retired from the Ironworkers Local 732 at the age of 59, after 36 years of service. He worked in various areas around Idaho. Some of the projects he worked on were the Teton Dam and the Perrine Bridge.
