Norman James âPeteâ Atkins of Blackfoot passed away on Oct. 13, 2011 at the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
He was born in Delta, Colo. in 1928 and grew up in Paonia, Colo. He was preceded in death by his father, James Perry, mother, Lura May and brother, Dale M. Atkins.
Pete has five children: Shannon Lamb, Wheat Ridge, Colo.; Shelley Atkins, Arvada, Colo.; Dan Atkins, Bend, Ore.; Cindy Walsh (Joe) Groton, Conn. and Perrie Atkins, Blackfoot. He also has seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Brenda Young, 54, of Pingree passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2011 in Soda Springs. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 at the Pingree First Ward.
Family will visit with friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot and one hour prior to services at the Church. Burial will follow the services at the Springfield Cemetery.
Keith Vernon Jensen, 62, of Blackfoot, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2011 at his home.
He was born March 2, 1949 in Blackfoot to Vernon Wilford and Lenore Elsie Wallace Jensen. He attended school at Wapello Elementary, Blackfoot Junior High School and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1968.
Keith has lived his entire life in the Blackfoot area, at the Blackfoot Dam and in Wapello.
On Jan. 11, 1983 he married Clara Lee Kern in Blackfoot.
He was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs as Fort Hall irrigation dam tender; he has been employed with them for the last 40 years.
Beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and daughter passed away on Oct. 7, 2011. Peggy is the daughter of Wallace and Diane Erikson and the wife of Kyle Speas. She was received with open arms by her son Daniel and her beloved grandmother, Sofea Elizabeth Erickson.
Peggy was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many positions throughout her life. She is remembered for her many years of service in the Primary and Young Womenâs organizations. She loved teaching children and watching them learn and grow. She touched the lives of everyone that she served.
On Oct. 7, 2011, Sharon Mae Wallin Hansen 67, of Elko, Nev. returned to the welcoming arms of her heavenly family.
She was born May 6, 1944 to Carl & Edna Wallin in Pocatello. She was the youngest of five children. Sharon graduated from Pocatello High School in 1962.
She married James B. Hansen on Aug. 3, 1968. They resided in Springfield and were blessed with six children. James B. and Sharon were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, Sept. 15, 1979.
Roberta Emogene Johnston, 84, passed from this life to the next on Oct. 6, 2011 in her home in Blackfoot with her family at her side.
She was born on July 7, 1927 in Page, Okla., the only daughter of Cleon and William Hollingback.
She graduated from Pocatello High in 1945, and continued her education at Utah State University for one year, and always found ways to continue to learn.
She and her husband, Paul Emigh Johnston Jr. were married Feb. 19, 1950 in Meridian. Together they raised four children, Paul III, Mark, Teresa, and Kevin.
Alan F. Archibald, 69, of Blackfoot passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot.
Family will meet with friends and relatives for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.Â Condolences may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Lucille Wright Benson passed away due to complications from heart surgery on Oct. 11, 2011, in St. George, Utah.
She was born Feb. 7, 1934, in Blackfoot to Cecil F. and Anna Polatis Wright. She married J. Boyd Benson on Oct. 24, 1952, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Lucille is survived by her children: Debra (Edgar) Wells, Diane Mitchell, Susan (Allen) Tripp, John (Gloria) Benson, Scott (Kathleen) Benson and Lisa (David) Payne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Boyd Benson, and son, Steven Boyd Benson. She had 28 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Eldon Leroy Gardner, 67, of Blackfoot passed away Oct 10, 2011 following a short illness.
He was born on Nov. 1, 1943 in Blackfoot, the sixth of 11 children of Raymond and Nina May Crow Gardner.
His upbringing on his parentsâ small, rocky farm was hard but happy.Â He was the epitome of a âpeople person,â a good husband, father, and grandfather, ranch foreman and hunting guide.Â
His interests included horses, livestock, gardening, reading, and telling stories and jokes.Â Among his many endearing qualities was his encyclopedic memory for jokes, which he told at every appropriate opportunity.
Keith Jensen, 64, of Blackfoot died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011 at his home.
Services are pending and will be announced by the Hawker Funeral Home.
