James S. Spalding, 68, of Blackfoot, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at his home.
James was born Feb. 24, 1944, in Oceanside, Calif., to David Ross and Marjorie Simon Spalding.Â He attended elementary and high school in Circleville, Ohio.Â He attended Ohio University and earned his masterâ€™s degree from the University of Utah.Â He made his home in Blackfoot in 2001.
James served in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970.
Marian DeLene Mortensen, 61, a former Blackfoot resident, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012, at her home in Edmond, Okla.
She was born in Ogden, Utah, on March 25, 1951.Â She was the oldest of five children adopted by Edwin Neher Mortensen and Georgia Moline Westover.Â She lived in Utah, Idaho, Connecticut, New York, and Oklahoma.Â
DeLene graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1969.Â She continued her education at Ricks College, later becoming a licensed practical nurse.Â Her specialty was special needs children and adults.
Lola Herres, 81, of Blackfoot passed away Friday, July 27, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Lola was born Feb. 5, 1931, to Justin Ira and Susan Bailey Wixom in Groveland.Â She attended school at Groveland and Blackfoot, she was vice president of her junior high school class.
Marvin Wayne Vail, 83, of Blackfoot passed away Monday, July 23, 2012, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
Wayne was born March 28, 1929, in Pocatello,to Marvin James Vail and Elva Florence Neilson.Â He was raised in Star Valley, Wyo.Â At age 16, his family moved to Brigham City, Utah.Â He graduated from Box Elder High School where he played fullback on the state championship, undefeated football team two years in a row.
LaRue Norman Bird, 91, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012, at her home in Groveland.Â Â
She was born Jan. 23, 1921, in Blackfoot to Zenas William and Daisy Strong Norman.Â LaRue was raised on the family farm in the Rose area where she learned to work hard in the fields, raising potatoes, sugar beets and doing chores around the home.Â She enjoyed school, teaching church classes and was a graduate of Blackfoot High School and seminary in 1938.
Our dear mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at her home, where she loved to be, on Friday, July 20, 2012.Â She was 89 years young.
Betty Idona Wadsworth was born April 24,1923, to Fonda Idona Pierce and Roy Elliot of Princeville, Ore.
Lola Mae Summers, 76, of Blackfoot, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012, at her home in Blackfoot following extended illness, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.Â
Lola was born on June 8, 1936 in Firth to Evan Lyon and Evelyn Iris Scheiss Mecham.Â She was raised in the Blackfoot area, attending Blackfoot schools and graduating from Blackfoot High School.Â She also attended classes at ISU in her later years.
On July 12, 1954, Lola married Boyd Summers in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.Â They were later divorced.Â She raised four daughters and made her home in the Blackfoot area.
Charlene Ann Armey Manwaring, 72, of Blackfoot passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012, in Salt Lake City, Utah, as the result of an aneurism.
She was born on March 18, 1940, to Rex Carlile Armey and Laura Elda Olsen Armey in Silverlake, Ind.
She graduated from school in May 1958.Â In the 1970's she graduated from cosmetology school and began her own beauty shop in Aberdeen Md.Â Charlene worked hard her whole life and only had one speed, fast and furious.Â If you couldnâ€™t keep up, get out of her way!
Max Kendall King, 91, passed away on July 17, 2012 at Orchard Park Rehabilitation Center in Orem, Utah, of congestive heart failure.
Born on Sept. 3, 1920, in Aberdeen,, he was the oldest of nine children of Paul Dean and Sabra Norean Kendall King. Max lived most of his life in Aberdeen, leaving home for missions, military, and college. In recent years, he resided with his daughters Marilyn in Murray, then Ruth in Highland, Utah.
Kenneth Albert Anderson, 73, passed away at his home in Henderson, Nev., on July 1, 2012, of natural causes.
He was born Nov. 28, 1938, in Riverside, the son of Claus Albert Anderson and Iris Wray Anderson Cammack.Â He grew up there and attended schools in Riverside and Moreland.Â He graduated from Snake River High School in May of 1955.
