John was born to Harrison and Eva England McKnight, Dec. 21, 1931 in Moreland. He was number 11 of 14 children. He grew up in Moreland, where he attended school and helped on the family farm.
During his high school years he met his lifelong sweetheart, Lois DeLone Taylor. After graduating from Snake River High School, John attended BYU for a semester, however, his time at college was quite brief as he could not be apart from his beautiful DeLone. They were joined in marriage on Jan. 18, 1951, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Merlin A Orton, 85, of Bend, Ore, passed away Aug. 1, 2012 at his home.
He was born Sept. 12, 1926, in Pocatello to Thomas D. and Avilda Mecham Orton.Â He lived in the Boise area up through grade four and then moved to the Firth area where he graduated from Firth High School in 1943.Â His favorite sport was basketball and he also participated in track and baseball.
At the age of 11, Merlin went to work for his uncle during the summer on a cattle ranch at Chesterfield.Â He herded sheep for two summers and then worked in the hay for three summers.Â

Deltha Glenell Jackson, 90, of Blackfoot passed away Aug. 4, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Patricia Shipley.
Glenell was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Blackfoot to Ivan Lee Tanner and Caroline (Buttcane) Tanner. She lived in Blackfoot and Springfield.Â Â She also lived at the Beehive HouseÂ in Salt Lake City, Utah, while attending college.Â She graduated from Blackfoot High School and continued her education at the LDS Business College.
Brent James Hansen, 36, of Blackfoot, passed away Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Brent was born May 1, 1976, in Pocatello to Lewis Kent Hansen and Linda Kaye Anderson.Â He attended elementary school and Hawthorne Junior High in Chubbuck.Â He enjoyed scouting and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.Â After graduating from Highland High School in 1995, he continued his education at Idaho State University.
Erma Susan Wolfley, 67, of Blackfoot passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at her home in Blackfoot, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Erma was born on April12, 1945, in Blackfoot to Evan Lyon and Evelyn Iris Scheiss Mecham.Â She was raised in the Blackfoot area, attending Blackfoot schools and graduating from Blackfoot High School.
Rick Merle of Boise, a former Blackfoot resident, passed away peacefully at home July 24, 2012 in the arms of his daughter after a long battle with cancer.
He was born Oct. 14, 1950 in The Bronx, New York, the oldest child of Frank and Audrey Merle. He grew up on the East Coast, graduating from Rumson Fairhaven High School in Rumson, New Jersey.
He moved to Manhattan, Kansas, attending Kansas State University where he met and married Vickie Rader. They then moved to Blackfoot, where he began a long and storied career as a master of all things mechanical.
LeRoy Don Edwards, 79, formerly of Idaho Falls, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2012 at his home in Blackfoot.
Â LeRoy was born March 4, 1933 in Firth to Donno L. Edwards and Chloe Thornton Edwards. He grew up and attended schools in Osgood and Pocatello.Â He also lived in Washington.
Â LeRoy served in the United States Army as a corporal during the Korean War. He was a farmer.
Â He married Karen Hoylman in June of 1956. They were later divorced. On Nov.8, 1968, LeRoy married Maxine Jane Hunt in Rigby. Maxine passed away April 21, 2011.
Obituary for Kenneth Parks
Â Kenneth Rulon Parks, 87, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012.Â He was under the care of Idaho Home Health and Hospice.
Â LeAnn Paxton passed away Saturday night in Aberdeen following an eight-year battle with breast cancer.
She was born in Ogden, Utah, to Norman and Birtha Hoskins, where they lived till she was a freshman in high school. Then finished out her high school years in Blackfoot.
She loved being with her family more then anything. She also loved classical rock, her Camaro, BBQ's, and just hanging out and shooting the breeze with friends.
