Veon Wallentine Nate, 77, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 while vacationing in San Diego, California.Â
Veon was born in Lanark, Idaho on August 2, 1935, to Loraine Charles and Hazel Hymas Wallentine. She married Edward B. Sommers in 1953 in the Idaho Falls, Idaho, LDS Temple.Â They were later divorced.Â She married her eternal companion, Lynn Henry Nate, on August 1, 1963, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They spent the first few years of their marriage in Montpelier, Idaho and then moved to Blackfoot in 1968.
Cody (Corrine) Budd passed away quietly Jan. 19, 2013, in Eugene, Ore.
Cody lived a full life. Five generations of family gathered together Nov. 5, 2012, to help celebrate her 100th birthday.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Daniel Burr Budd, and two grandchildren, Bobbie Kate Budd and J Dimitre Nacheff.
She leaves behind a great legacy â three children, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Cody died as she lived, on her own terms. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Lola R. Penoyer, 70, of Blackfoot passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot.
Â Lola was born Dec. 17, 1942 to Andrew and Ruby Anderson.Â She was a lifetime resident of Blackfoot and attended grade school in Pocatello, Jorman, Twin Falls and Richfield.
On Jan. 14, 1961 Lola married Robert Penoyer in Blackfoot.Â
Lola was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She worked at TeePee Potato and later at Sunspiced.Â In her free time she enjoyed puzzle books, reading, playing Bingo and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Bobby âWayneâ Whitehead, 70, of Blackfoot slipped out of his room at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 and headed out early for his camping spot in the sky, to prepare for his family to follow.
Wayne was born May 19, 1942 in Big Springs, Texas, the ninth of 12 children born to Edward Erastus (Jack) Whitehead and Lomesia Thomas.Â Wayne attended school in Texas and California and grew up with siblings as they followed the crops throughout the countryat harvest time on the back of a flatbed truck.Â
Mable Pierce of Fort Hall died Sunday Jan. 20, 2013 after a long battle with cancer.
Mable passed at the home of her daughter, surrounded by loved ones. She was 84 years old.
Mable moved to Fort Hall in 1959 with her husband Ed Pierce. They started an auto repair shop and expanded it into a salvage/wrecking yard, Edâs Auto Wrecking.
Bonnie Louise Burns, 70, of Idaho Falls passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at her home from diabetes.
She was born Oct, 21, 1942 in Blackfoot, the daughter of Samuel Enoch Butler and Emily Myrtle Adams.
Bonnie attended school in Blackfoot.Â She lived in Blackfoot, Boise and Idaho Falls throughout her life.
Â Â She married Clair Farnes and he preceded her in death in 1973.Â She married Jim Burns and they were later divorced.
She had worked at the Blackfoot Elks Lodge and in law enforcement at the jail in Idaho Falls.
Douglas Deloy Bench, 45, of Blackfoot passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at his home after fighting a valiant and final battle with colon cancer.
He was born Nov. 18, 1967 in Idaho Falls, the first son of three children born to Francis Deloy Bench and Helen Renee Bench.
His older sister was like a twin to him and they played and were mischievous growing up.Â It was a daily adventure to see what three childrenâs inquiring minds could come up with.Â Doug was always looking for work and chores that needed to be done.Â He valued hard work and the reward that comes with it.
Juan Alba Gomez, 73, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello from diabetes.
He was born June 24, 1939 in Purisima de Bustos Guanajuato, Mexico, to Marcelo Alba and Francisca Gomez, the ninth of 12 children.
He grew up in Purisima de Bustos Guanajuato, Mexico, and worked as a harvester on his dadâs land and also helped raise cattle.Â Juan also was the owner of three freight trucks.
On July 17, 1963, he married Isabel Alba.
Wilhelamenia Davila âMaâ, 66, of Lincoln Creek, entered into rest Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.Â
Â She was born to Frank Clarence Teton and Juanita Dann Teton on Jan. 2, 1947 in Blackfoot.Â Wilma or Ma as she was known by many, attended elementary school in Blackfoot and graduated from Chilocco Indian School in Stillwater, Okla., in 1966.Â After high school she worked in Texas and San Diego, Calif.
Joann Chavez Chapman, 53, of Twin Falls and formerly of Blackfoot ,passed away Jan. 14, 2013 at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Twin Falls.
She was born Jan. 29, 1960 in Hamilton, Mont., the daughter of Ernest M. and Janie C. Chavez.
She attended school in Blackfoot and graduated in 1978.
Joann resided in Twin Falls and also in Mesquite, Nev., and in Wisconsin.Â She was married to Tom Ternus in 1982 and later divorced.Â Â She married her companion of 22 years, Richard Chapman on Sept. 25, 2012 in Twin Falls.
