James M. Burningham

St. George, Utah - James M. Burningham, 97, of St, George, Utah, and formerly of Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away Jan. 9, 2014 in St. George, Utah.
He was born Aug. 25, 1916 to James Valentine and Annie Muir Burningham. He married Ida Johnson on July 10, 1939. She passed away on Jan. 4, 2006.
In his younger years, he farmed. He then worked for Bauer Equipment for many years. He also worked in road construction as a heavy equipment operator.

LaRue Fackrell Cox. July 25, 1924-Jan. 14, 2014
LaRue F. Cox passed away quietly at home Jan. 14, 2014.
LaRue was born July 25, 1924 in the home of her parents at Thomas. LaRue was the third of six children born to Lewis N. Fackrell and Amanda M. Dance Fackrell. She joined sister Thelda and brother Quinten. Eventually brothers Ivan and Arlis and sister Lois completed the family. 

Carolyn Taylor Tripp, 64

Carolyn Taylor Tripp, 64, of Inkom passed away peacefully following a brief yet aggressive illness at a local hospital Jan. 13, 2014 surrounded by her family.
Carolyn was born in Butte, Mont., the daughter of John Thomas and Delilah (Weeks) Taylor. When she was two, her family moved to Moreland and when she was four, they moved to Blackfoot, where she attended public schools, graduating from Blackfoot High School in 1967.
Carolyn married John Tripp on May 18, 1969. They moved their young family to Inkom in 1976 and were later divorced on May 18, 2003.

Virginia Dell Patterson, 84

Virginia Dell Patterson, 84, of Blackfoot, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at the Gables Assisted Living Center.
She was born in Wheeler County, Texas on Aug. 26, 1929 to Richard Albert Watts and Anna Mae Hart.
Virginia married TJ Patterson June 20, 1947, and they had two children, Barbara and Roger. The family moved from Texas to Blackfoot in 1958. T.J. preceded her in death on May 25, 2002.

Von E. Thurman, 84

Longtime Blackfoot residentVon E. Thurman, 84, passed away peacefully at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center on Jan. 11, 2014, due to natural causes.
Von was born on Sept. 29, 1929, at Thomas to Elmer and Elva Thurman. Von attended school in Afton, Wyo. where he lived with his grandfather. He later attended Blackfoot High School where he lettered in track and boxing and graduated in 1947. He also attended barber college in Boise.

Betty Goodwin Nielsen, 90

Betty Bea Aiken Goodwin Nielsen, 90, of Blackfoot passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at The Willows in Blackfoot.
She was born March 27, 1923 in Spring City, Utah to T.W. and Crystal Aiken.  She was the oldest of nine children.
On Nov.26, 1943, she married Eldon J. Goodwin in the Manti LDS Temple.  They had five children.

Frances Navo, 91

Frances Navo, 91, of Gibson passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot.
She was born Feb. 10, 1922 in Fort Hall, the daughter of Isaac Sandy, a descendant of Boise Valley, and Mary Fisher Sandy.  She was a great-granddaughter of Captain Jim.
She was raised in the Gibson and Fort Hall area.  She attended Sherman Boarding School in Riverside, Calif.
She married Richard C. Navo in Gibson in 1940. He preceded her in death in 1985.
She was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Earl Rick Clayborn, 56

Earl Rick Clayborn was born June 7, 1957 in Pocatello to Earl and Norma Clayborn. He died at his home in Vallejo, Calif. on Dec. 30, 2013.
He became one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1971 and served his god, Jehovah, faithfully until his death.
He graduated from Snake River High School in 1974 and worked as a boilermaker until 1980 when he became an ironworker. At the time of his death he was general foreman on the San Francisco Bay Bridge in California.
On May 18, 1980 he married Martha Mahalik. They had three children: Earl, Alexsandra and Rebecca.

Leon Michael Waters, 69

Leon Michael Waters, 69
Leon Michael Waters, 69, of Blackfoot passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at the home he shared with long-time partner Carolyn Cook.
 Leon was born October 23, 1944 in Rupert, to Dean Waters and June Boldt Waters.  He was raised in Burley, and attended Idaho State University and Eastern Idaho Vocational College in Idaho Falls.  He lived in Blackfoot most of his life.
Leon worked as a tax consultant.  In his free time he enjoyed camping, fishing, being outdoors, helping people and making people laugh.

Connie E. Peterson Birch, 64

January 9, 2014

Connie E. Peterson Birch, 64, passed away peacefully at home in Blackfoot.
She was born in Hastings, Neb. on October 24, 1949.
She married Jon C. Birch and then later divorced.
She worked as an executive secretary at EG&G and Exxon until she became disabled in 1989 and was forced to retire. She enjoyed crafts and reading. Connie was also a very talented artist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Alretta Peterson; her sister, Sandra Meredith; and her daughter, Loretta Lynne.
