Nicholas Ira Van Sickle, 57, a Wapello resident, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, in Pocatello from causes due to cancer.
He was born Sept. 12, 1953, in Oakland, Calif., the son of Harold Dean Van Sickle and Florien Lauretha Misch Van Sickle.
He spent his grade school years in Jefferson, Iowa, and after moving a few times, ended his high school education graduating from Manteca High School in California. He also had some college education, specializing in paralegal training.

The family will meet for an open house and viewing from 9-10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave.

Stacia Pandoah, a 70-year-old Blackfoot area resident, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, following an illness.

Shirley Ann Billie Hicks, 59, formerly of the Blackfoot area, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, in Anaheim, Calif., from natural causes.

Hattie Fay Landon, 80

January 24, 2011

Hattie Fay Dye Landon was born on March 13, 1930, to Arthur Clair and Althea Teeples Dye in Goshen. She was the oldest of five children, Betty Anderson (deceased); Dennis (Lanae) Dye, Chubbuck; Shanna (Claylon) Perkins, Arbon; and Beverly (Gary) Hirschi, Chubbuck.

George “Tootie” Raymond Bercier, 68, of Pocatello, Idaho passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at his home.
Service arrangements are pending and will be announced by Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot.         

Grant Gerald Mecham, 63

January 21, 2011

Grant Gerald Mecham, passed away suddenly on January 19, 2011.
Grant was born June 17, 1947, to Carl and Lucille Mecham in Moab, UT where he spent the first few years of his life. The family then moved to a ranch in Montana then later moved to Missoula and later to Seeley Lake where he graduated from Seeley Swan High School. He served an LDS mission in the Southwest Indian mission.

Merna Joy Furniss Wooden

Merna Joy Furniss Wooden was born February 7, 1935 the third child of Clara Violet Cross Furniss and Alfred Parson Furniss.
Merna Joy was named after her mother’s favorite actress Myrna Loy, but everyone knew her as Joy; Joy was born and grew up in the basalt area. She married Billy Dean Byington, in Blackfoot, Idaho (later divorced), out of this loving union she was blessed with two wonderful daughters, Linda Lee Byington (Neil) Carter of California, and Merna Lynn Byington (Marvin) Willis of Texas. Joy met and married Arland Wooden in California, they later divorced.

Merna Joy Wooden, 75, of Pocatello passed away Jan. 18, 2011, at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at the Basalt Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 3:40 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. Interment will be in the Basalt Cemetery.

Roy Spencer Smith, 65

Roy Spencer Smith, 65, a Blackfoot resident, passed away Saturday Jan. 15, 2011, at his home following a short illness.
He was born Sept. 7, 1945, in Gallup, New Mexico, the son of Lucius Spencer Smith and Frankie Marie Carpenter. He lived his youth in New Mexico where he was educated and graduated from the Quemado High School.
He married Elizabeth Ann Brownlee on Sept. 29, 1967, in Gallup, New Mexico. He lived in New Mexico most of his life until coming to Blackfoot seven years ago.
He was a rancher and carpenter all of his life, among numerous other talents.
