Mona Katherine Taylor, 94

Mona Katherine Bailey Taylor, 94 passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Marie Taylor of Spokane, Wash., where she had been living for the past 14 years.
She was born Nov. 11, 1919, in Lyman, Idaho to Alfred Glen Bailey and Clara Lavina Fransen Bailey. She had five brothers, two older and three younger; Alfred Udale, Glen LeRoy, Jack Fransen, Clair Bryce, and Juel  Garth. They have all preceded her in death except her youngest brother, Juel Garth of Warren, Ore.

Mary Louise Rodgers Hart, 74

Mary Louise Rodgers Hart, 74, of Blackfoot, Idaho returned to the arms of her loving Heavenly Father on Feb. 4, 2014 in Riverside, Idaho.
Louise was born Nov. 24, 1939, Riverside, Idaho to Russell and Verda Hoskins Rodgers. Louise was the oldest daughter and fourth of 10 children.  She was raised in Howe and Blackfoot. She attended schools in Howe and Blackfoot. Her father was a farmer and she grew up in the farming community. They were taught to work hard and to play hard as children.

Joann Van Orden, 78

February 5, 2014

JoAnn F. Van Orden, 78, of Thomas, Idaho passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 peacefully in her home following a fall.
She was born May 15, 1935 to Burton and La Priel Furniss.  She was one of five daughters.  JoAnn attended school and graduated from Snake River High School.  
It was there in the seventh grade that she met her future husband, Glenn Van Orden.  She married Glenn, the love of her life, on Nov. 6, 1953 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.  They have five children; 22 grandchildren; and 29 great- grandchildren.  

Linda Broncho, 53

Linda Broncho, 53, of Gibson passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014. 
She was born Sept. 8, 1960 in Pocatello, the daughter of Bert Broncho and Eva Hardy Broncho.
Linda received her GED at Washington State and then went to AGC Teamster Truck Driver Training in Weiser.  After working in these non-traditional fields, Linda went to college at ISU where she received her license as a nail technician and ultimately earned her associate’s degree in Marketing and Management.

Darin Alan Park, 49, of Kimberly and formerly of Blackfoot, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at the University of Utah Hospital, following a valiant battle with Antiphospholipid Syndrome.

Kenneth Jay Gray, 50

Kenneth Jay Gray, 50, of Blackfoot, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at the Life Care Center in Idaho Falls.
He was born Nov. 13, 1963  in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Jay R. and Karol Knight  Gray.  Kenneth attended Oakley Elementary School in Heyburn and then attended Green River High School in Green River, Wyo.
He enjoyed movies, hard rock music, especially KISS.
Kenneth is survived by his parents Jay and Karol Gray of Blackfoot; one sister, Lisa (Richard) Marsing of Green River, Wyo.; niece, Brooke (Alek) Anderson and nephews, Ashton and Alek, of Rock Springs, Wyo.

Opal Justus, 94

Opal Justus, 94, of Blackfoot passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at The Gardens in Rigby.
She was born Sept. 12, 1919 in Sutton, Neb., to Lloid and Ida Pauline Trieber Corey. She moved to Blackfoot when she was just 2 months old, and lived her entire life in the area. 
Opal attended school in Blackfoot and graduated in 1937, the first class of Blackfoot High School, which was then located on Shilling Street and currently serves as the Sixth Grade Center. 

Michael Rivers, 50

Michael Rivers passed away at the age of 50 at his home near Emeryville (Oakland), Calif. on Dec. 25, 2013.
Michael was born on Feb. 10, 1963 in Blackfoot to Robert and Eleanor Rivers. Michael grew up and attended Stalker Elementary School, Blackfoot Junior High and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1981. Michael attended and graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor of arts in Journalism.

Maria C. Martinez, 74

Maria C. Martinez, 74, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho.
She was born July 3, 1939 in Sanisidro, Coahulia, Mexico, the daughter of Florence Correa and Eduvijen Gonzales.
In 1954 she left Mexico and came to the US and ended up in Idaho in 1957 where she has resided since.
She attended 5th grade in San Isidrio, Coahulia, Mexico.
She married Marcelino Martinez.  They latter divorced and in 1968 she married Luis Madrigal and they also were later divorced in 1971.

Fred W. Elkington, 91

Fred William Elkington, 91, of Idaho Falls passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014 in Orem, Utah.
He was born Jan. 28, 1922 in Tooele, Utah, to William Henry Elkington and Elize McClaws Elkington. He grew up in Idaho Falls and attended Idaho Falls High School.
Fred joined the Army and served during World War II. He was a cattle and sheep rancher, working with his father and sons around the area. He worked as a security officer at Idaho First National Bank, as a heavy equipment operator for Bonneville County, and worked in his later years as a delivery driver for the Rose Shop.
