Lodena Kaye “Katie” Hawkins was born on Aug. 18, 1935 in Rawlins, Wyoming to Etha and James Justesen. After a long fruitful life she passed away due to a longtime illness on Jan. 30, 2013 at Bingham Nursing Care and Rehab Facility, surrounded by her family and friends.
Katie is survived by children, Jewel Mc Murtery, Patricia Keller, Jeff and Dorien Jenkins, Kris Frady, L D and Melissa Hawkins; siblings, Larry (Shawna) Justesen, Margo Maxwell and Jullie (Dennis) Hoen; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Annette Marie Holm, 45, of Pocatello, passed away at her home on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013.
She started her life in Van Nuys, Calif., on April 27, 1967.
Due to her father’s career, she had the opportunity to move and travel all over the U.S. and she saw many of the great sights this country has to offer. She attended many different schools, but on June 4, 2010, she excitedly and proudly accepted her GED and then enrolled in ISU where she was going to learn to be a web page designer for large corporations.
 Julio Talamantes Sr., 86, of Blackfoot passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at his home in Blackfoot.
Julio was born April 12, 1926, in Balleza, Chihuahua, Mexico to Antonio Escobar and Rita Talamantes. He lived his youth in Parral, Chihuahua, and moved to Blackfoot in 1984.
On July 11, 1946 Julio married Felipa Talamantes in Mexico. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple in October of 1978.Â
MASON, Texas — Joseph Thorpe Sr. (LTC, USMC, Retired), of Mason, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the age of 70.
Mr. Thorpe is survived by his wife Marylee Thorpe of Mason; two sons Jim Thorpe and wife Wendy of Houston, Texas, and Joseph Thorpe Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Lake Forest, Calif; five grandchildren — Joseph Culter, Cody Thorpe, Danielle Thorpe, Lauryn Thorpe and Morgyn Thorpe.
He was preceded in death by a son, Vincent Thorpe.
Joseph was born on Oct. 24, 1942, in Blackfoot, Idaho. He was one of nine children born to Mr. & Mrs. Raymond Thorpe.

Surrounded by loving family members, Alton James Reay, formerly of Blackfoot, passed away on Jan. 20, 2013, at Providence St Peter Hospital in Olympia, Wash. He will be remembered as a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Laverne James Cody, 83, of Blackfoot, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at his home from complications of diabetes and Parkinson’s Disease.
Laverne was born Aug. 12, 1929 in Wapello to Leslie Marion and Ella Loretta Adams Cody. He attended school at Wapello and Shoshone, where he graduated the eighth grade. He homesteaded in Shoshone with his parents, and he has lived in the Blackfoot area his adult life.

Joshua Richard Herrman, 32, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013.
 Josh was born Jan. 12, 1981 in Pocatello, to Floyd Herrman and Peggy Ann Buzzard. He attended grade school in Wapello and graduated from Firth High School. After graduation he lived in Logan, Utah, for four years.
 On June 11, 2005 Joshua married Tashina Roundy in Firth. Together they have three children, Koi Van (7 years), Kolter Byron (4 years) and Gracie Lane (2 years).
Don P Jones, a loving father, grandfather, husband and brother passed away peacefully on January 26, 2013 while returning from his son’s funeral. He was born September 18, 1920 in Francis, Utah to Abram and George Anna Jones. He was very proud of his Welsh heritage.

Veon Wallentine Nate, 77, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 while vacationing in San Diego, California.Â
Veon was born in Lanark, Idaho on August 2, 1935, to Loraine Charles and Hazel Hymas Wallentine. She married Edward B. Sommers in 1953 in the Idaho Falls, Idaho, LDS Temple. They were later divorced. She married her eternal companion, Lynn Henry Nate, on August 1, 1963, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They spent the first few years of their marriage in Montpelier, Idaho and then moved to Blackfoot in 1968.
