Marvin Roy Denning, 84

February 13, 2012

Marvin Roy Denning, 84, of Blackfoot passed away on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at his home from Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at the Blackfoot 4th Ward LDS Chapel, with Bishop Les Cook conducting. Family will meet with friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at the Groveland Cemetery.

Paul Renshaw Solem, 91

Paul Renshaw Solem, 91, of Blackfoot went behind the veil on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at The Willows in Blackfoot.
Paul was born Jan. 28, 1921 in Springfield, Illinois, to Paul Gerhart and Lutie Viola Renshaw. He was raised in Illinois. His father was a fur coat salesman, so he did a lot of traveling with him, which was Paul’s passion.
Paul was known as the “Flying Saucer Prophet” and held several lectures throughout his life all over the Western states. Paul lived with and was accepted by the Hopi Indians of New Mexico for several years.

Kathy Churchill-Pierce

Katherine Lynn Churchill-Pierce of Blackfoot passed away early Monday, Feb. 6, 2012 at Bingham Memorial Hospital of an unexpected illness.
Kathy was born April 26, 1965 to Sharon Nelson in Pittsburg, Calif., where she was raised. She was very active in school activities and was a Bluebird as a child.

Jonah Mink, 79

February 8, 2012

Jonah Mink, 79, of Fort Hall, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 at his home.
He was born Nov. 8, 1932 in Salmon, Idaho to Joseph Mink and Cora Pegoga.
Jonah attended school in the Blackfoot School District. He was a truck driver at the Gay Mine and a rancher.
He has been with his companion, Ardith Peyope, for 33 years.
He enjoyed breaking horses, traveling to and singing at Pow Wow’s and Sun Dances. He also enjoyed making Indian saddles.

Buford M.Cornelison, 90

February 7, 2012

Buford M.Cornelison, 90, of Blackfoot died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at his home from causes incident to age.
Services will be conducted Wednesday, Feb.8, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Blackfoot Idaho Stake Center, 1650 Highland Drive with Bishop Dale Cunningham officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening in the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling, Blackfoot, and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Grove City Cemetery, Blackfoot.

BLACKFOOT – Katherine L. Churchill, 46, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, unexpectedly following a brief illness at a local hospital.

Donner “Rusty” Houtz, 88, passed away at the Idaho State Veterans Home on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012. There will be no services at this time, but we will have a memorial at a later date.

Christopher W. Seratt, 23, of Blackfoot, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012 from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle rollover.
Chris was born Oct. 11, 1988 in Blackfoot to Richard Wayne Seratt,II and Sirrinda Lee Gerstlauer. He was raised in the Blackfoot area and attended schools in the Blackfoot and Snake River districts.

Buford Max Cornelison, 90

Buford Max Cornelison, 90, of Blackfoot died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at his home from causes incident to age.
He was born Jan.19, 1922 at Chesterfield to Forest Lee and Etta Eldora VunCannon Cornelison. Buford's family spent their winters in Chesterfield and summers in Rocky Canyon where his parents homesteaded a valley north of Chesterfield and east of Mt. Putnam. He attended school in Chesterfield and graduated from North Gem High School in 1940.
