WENDELL — For the first time since 1972 the Snake River volleyball team will be adding a state championship trophy to the schools trophy case. The Panthers earned the title of state champions with a pair of 3-1 victories on Saturday, first taking out South Fremont 25-27, 25-22, 25-11 and 25-9 in the semi-finals and then knocking out the defending 3A state champion St. Maries Lumberjacks 17-25, 26-24, 25-22 and 26-24.
THOMAS — Mistakes nearly ended the Snake River Panthers football season on Saturday afternoon. Five turnovers will normally lead to defeat but the Panthers found a way to overcome that with a strong running game and some timely passing for a 32-26 comeback victory over Salmon in the first round of the state football playoffs.
