ABERDEEN — Fans of high school soccer were in for a real treat on Thursday afternoon as the Tigers and Panthers squared off on the pitch in what turned out to be a highly entertaining contest between the Bingham County rivals.
In a match that was played about as evenly as one could imagine, the teams combined for 3 goals over a six minute span on the play clock, with Aberdeen coming away with a 2-1 victory that propelled them onto the top of the district standings.
BLACKFOOT - When the Blackfoot Lady Broncos Soccer team took to the pitch on Thursday taking on the visiting Rigby Lady Trojans, they did so without three of their key starters.
Behind the inspired play of their defense and the addition of a pair of junior varsity call ups, the Broncos came away with an important 2-0 shut out of the Trojans, keeping their hopes of a district regular season title alive.
"Rigby came in here with their best team in many years," said Coach Scott Stufflebeam. "For the girls to step up their play and come away with a win today was huge for us."
