THOMAS - The Sugar Salem Diggers invaded the Panther Lair at Snake River Wednesday night and the two teams stood like a pair of heavyweight fighters slugging it out on the defensive end before the Panthers edged clear in the late stages to register a 47-34 victory.
"We really played well defensively tonight against a strong team," said Coach Robert Coombs. "I expect that Sugar will finish first or second in their district so that is added emphasis on how well we played."
BLACKFOOT — In the end it was a loss, but for Bronco fans in attendance at Wednesday evenings game against the Knights of Hillcrest, progress could be seen throughout the 86-73 defeat.
"Our offense is a lot better when we are a pass first team and you saw that out there tonight so at least we are making those strides because we had some really good possessions out there," Blackfoot head coach Jonathan Packer said. "We played with a lot of energy which I was happy to see."

FIRTH - In a game that at times seemed more like a rugby scrum than a basketball contest, the Firth Cougars scratched and clawed their way to a 70-48 non conference victory over the visiting Teton Redskins Friday night.

AMMON — The Blackfoot wrestling team continued their significant roll through the 2010-11 season, taking down High Country Conference rival Hillcrest, in the dungeon, 60-7 on Wednesday evening.
"I thought that we had good spunk, good fire and we knew that we would be in for a hard fought battle and that is what Hillcrest gave us," Blackfoot head coach Brian Barlow said. "We don't like any of the young men too face defeat and thankfully we are winning more than we are losing."

THOMAS — The Snake River student body chanted "He's a sophomore," on more than one occasion on Friday evening. They had good reason for the chant as a pair of sophomores put on a shooting clinic for the Panthers with Jacoby Johnson and Cole Rushton leading the way with 18 and 19 points apiece in a 64-56 home victory over Aberdeen.
"I have a lot of younger kids that are playing well and I felt that Cole had a great game tonight," Snake River head coach Bob Coombs said. "He's come a long ways and he just makes us that much better because that's another kid that you will have to guard."
