MONTPELIER - For the first time in fifteen years, the Snake River Panther baseball team has claimed the District 5 crown and advanced to the Idaho State Championships next week.
Riding the right arm of pitcher Shane Parkinson and the pinch hitting of Travis Robertson and Cash Cardona, the Panthers downed tournament host Bear Lake 3-2 in eight innings to claim the title.
We got a huge effort from Shane today," said Coach James Carter. "We just have some great kids who did just a phenomenal job today to get the win."
REXBURG â€” Once again the Blackfoot Lady Broncos proved that the game isn't over until its over as Brielle Brower swatted a 2-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning, propelling Blackfoot to a thrilling 6-5 win over Rigby to advance to the state play in game on Saturday.
"I was just looking for a base hit to get Jamie around to home, nothing big just something to help my team out," Brielle Brower said. "We knew that we needed to come out and battle because we all want to make it to the play in game and we want to help our seniors out."
IDAHO FALLS â€” The Blackfoot tennis team took to the Idaho Falls courts on Thursday, looking to position themselves on day one of the district tournament for a run at a conference title and a number of state tournament bids.
On the day, Blackfoot did just that as many members of the squad are still alive, heading into the final day of the tournament beginning at 9 A.M. this morning.
