Broncos romp 38-8 over Tigers

BLACKFOOT-The Blackfoot Bronco football team opened up their season against the 5A Idaho Falls Tigers Friday night and looked in mid season form as they crushed the Tigers 38-8.
The Broncos started off the game receiving the kick-off. For the first play of the Bronco offense, senior Ryan Gallegos ran 11 yards for a first and ten. Then with 7:31 left on the clock in the first quarter, quarterback Trae Pilster threw a 36 yard pass to Gallegos down to the five yard line.

Broncos remain unbeaten with 2-0 win over Russets

SHELLEY — There were plenty of scoring opportunities during the Blackfoot and Shelley boys soccer game on Thursday afternoon. In the end, Blackfoot converted a pair of those chances to remain unbeaten on the season with a 2-0 win on the Russets home field.
"Some time you get three chances and you score on all three and other times you get fifteen chances and you score one, it's just how the game goes," Blackfoot head coach Liam Pope said.

Lady Russets pick up first win

SHELLEY — With the game tied at 1-1, late in the second half of Shelley and Blackfoot's conference tilt on the Lady Russets home field, Shelley's Megan Jensen pulled out her sand wedge and then lofted a perfect shot over the Blackfoot goal keeper for the eventual game winner.

Blackfoot wins 1-0 nail biter against Snake River

BLACKFOOT — The largest soccer crowd of the year welcomed the Blackfoot Broncos and the Snake River Panthers to the pitch on Saturday afternoon and not one of them left disappointed with the play on the field as the two teams put on a marvelously played game, with the home standing Broncos earning the 1-0 victory.

Russets tame Tigers 38-33

SHELLEY — It will go down in Shelley Russet lore as an instant classic. With their long time coach returning to the sideline after a year over seas in Afghanistan, the Shelley Russets battled through key injuries and a two touchdown deficit for a thrilling 38-33 come from behind victory over the Idaho Falls Tigers on Friday night at Shelley High School.
"Oh, man what a great story, I have to admit it. If you were to right a story this is how you would want to write it," Shelley head coach Dwight Richins said. "I feel fortunate to win, honest to god I do."

Broncos pound Trojans 8-0

BLACKFOOT — The conference season couldn't have began any better for the Blackfoot Bronco soccer squad as they annihilated the team from Rigby 8-0 on Thursday afternoon.
"In last nights practice during the scrimmage it was some of the best passing that we've ever done and we are a good passing team when we put the ball on the deck and work together as a unit," Blackfoot head coach Liam Pope said. "The practice carried over today and we were sharp and it was a conference game, which is as good as it gets for me."

Preston trips up Shelley 2-1

SHELLEY — It was unknown which was tougher on the Shelley Russet boys soccer team. The strong opening first half by the visiting Preston Indians or the constant cloud of grain dust from the farmer in the adjacent field which certainly didn't help the overall health of anyone in the vicinity.
After the dust had settled on the Shelley pitch, the visiting Indians did just enough to hold off a strong rally by the Russets in a 2-1 win.

Broncos open 2011 with win over Grizz

IDAHO FALLS — The Blackfoot Bronco's weathered a physical start with the Skyline Grizzlies on Friday afternoon and the got a hat trick from Carlos Flores who scored three second half goals as the Broncos began their 2011 season with a 3-0 victory.

Amazing McCoy wins first annual Wiley Petersen

FORT HALL — Oklahoma cowboy Cord McCoy has been around the world twice as a contestant on the Amazing Race but on Wednesday evening, he was one of fifty professional bull riders who took to the Fort Hall rodeo arena in the first annual Wiley Petersen Invitational.
When the dust had settled a capacity crowd applauded McCoy as he stood triumphant after capturing an event that is sure to become a regular stop on the Professional Bull Riders tour.

Broncos conduct football camp for younger set

BLACKFOOT – Moo-Donna has her new home. The 2011 EISF mascot stretches about six feet from ear to ear and now looks down from her post atop the billboard near the east entrance of the fairgrounds.
Chad Hammond with I.E. Productions said the Eastern Idaho State Fair's three-dimensional billboards are the only of their kind appearing in the state. There are two similar EISF billboards on I-15 and another large Moo-Donna will be placed on the back of the grandstands this year.
"I think it is the coolest welcome to the fair we've ever had," said Hammond.
The EISF runs Sept 3-10.
