SHELLEY — The Blackfoot Broncos picked up their third duel win in two days time as they took advantage of a short handed Shelley Russet squad with a convincing 69-12 team win on Thursday evening.
The win came on the heels of a tri-match sweep over Century and Pocatello on Wednesday night where they pounded the Diamondbacks 61-22 and then closed out a game Indian squad 40-27.
FIRTH — The Firth Cougars celebrated senior night but in the end it was the Snake River Panthers who picked up the duel win on Thursday evening as the Panthers won the cat fight 41-36.
"It was a tough match but I knew that it would be because Firth has a quality program," Snake River head coach Jeff Gardner said. "We had a couple of key matches to get the team win with Kaden Bench at 120 and Manny Trejo at 170."
Bench, who normally wrestles at 113 moved up to 120 for the Panthers on on Thursday evening and he came up aces with a hard fought 8-2 decision over Jackson Thompson.
AMMON — The Blackfoot Lady Broncos got 23 points from junior point guard Kylie Coby but in the end, a big Hillcrest second quarter proved too much to overcome as Blackfoot's season came to an end with a 76-60 to the Lady Knights in the Dungeon.
"We just never could recover once we got down by eleven in that second quarter," Blackfoot head coach Merle Smith said. "Kylie had a great night and she is the point guard of the future for us but now we just have to get that mental attitude and belief that we can win games like these."
