Blackfoot tennis turns in historic day

May 8, 2012

IDAHO FALLS — You will have to excuse the Blackfoot tennis squad if they are walking just a little taller today because on Tuesday, they turned in one of the finest performances in program history as they have already qualified 9 players for next weeks state tournament.
The Broncos qualified all of those players in large part to having placed four and possibly a fifth competitor in Thursday afternoons district championship matches.
“Definitely in my forty years of tennis I don’t believe that Blackfoot has ever had this many finalists in the district tournament,” Blackfoot head coach Brint Jeffris said. “It was a really incredible day. One of the best performances ever.”

Panthers Roar Back for 9-7 Championship Game Victory!

May 8, 2012

AMERICAN FALLS — After a near disastrous first inning that witnessed the Bear Lake Bears push 7 runs across the plate, Snake River head coach James Carter told his assistant coaches that they would now see just how good they really were.
Apparently, the Panthers are pretty good as they rode the right arm of Zane Stephenson as they roared back for the 9-7 victory for their second straight conference title.
"I just couldn't be prouder of the way that these kids came back," Coach Carter said. "The guys just wouldn't quit and they swung the bats really well. They played hard and they should be proud of themselves for digging deep for this one."
