THOMAS — Wyatt Wray hit Bret Parkinson for a pair of touchdown passes and the Snake River Panthers opened defense of their 3A state title with a resounding 57-18 home win over South Fremont on Friday night.
"I told the kids before the game that if they did three things; no turnovers, no penalties and if they tackled that they would win and they took care of all three of them," Snake River head coach Jeff Dalley said. "I was happy with both sides of the ball. I thought that the kids played a good game."
FIRTH — For those who thought that last years run to the championship game was a fluke think again. The Firth Cougars are for real, and they showed that in good old Firth Football fashion Friday night as they dismantled West Side 44-18 in the season opener.
The Cougars started the first drive of the game at their own 32 yard line and called on Mitch Orme’s number 5, over and over again. Firth was facing a 4th and 17 as they drew something up out of the Boise State playbook with a hook and ladder to Orme, to get them down to the goal line where Nick Andersen punched it in from 3 yards out Orme got the 2 point conversion.
