It was, as Brad Coombs described it, "the best Senior Night ever.
Coombs rushed for 87 yards and 4 touchdowns to help Snake River defeated Bear Lake 43-19 on Friday night. With the victory the Panthers (3-0, 6-3) claimed the District Five Class 3A championship. They will open the state playoffs with a home game against Teton at 1 p.m. on Nov. 1.
"That's definitely exciting," Coombs said of his big night. "Our offensive line really came to play this week. And credit our underclassmen for their role in this win."
Against Madison last week Blackfoot freshman quarterback Pacen Hayes did his best to try and bring the Broncos back from a 21-point deficit with a pair of fourth quarter touchdown passes.
After that game Broncos head coach Stan Buck said that he would start the player under center who wanted it more.
Friday night in Holt Arena against Pocatello it was the freshman under center and he did not disappoint.
