Last week Shelley coach Travis Hobson said he wanted his starters to play the opening two quarters against American Falls in their class 3A playoff opener.
His starters got a little longer break than they had anticipated.

POCATELLO – Scouting an opponent is important no matter the sport.
For the Shelley High School volleyball team, scouting their 3A state play-in game opponent Bear Lake was extremely important, and in fact it may have been the difference in the game.
It was, as Brad Coombs described it, "the best Senior Night ever.
Coombs rushed for 87 yards and 4 touchdowns to help Snake River defeated Bear Lake 43-19 on Friday night. With the victory the Panthers (3-0, 6-3) claimed the District Five Class 3A championship. They will open the state playoffs with a home game against Teton at 1 p.m. on Nov. 1.
"That's definitely exciting," Coombs said of his big night. "Our offensive line really came to play this week. And credit our underclassmen for their role in this win."
