THOMAS — After watching Teton march down the field in the final seven minutes of the game and punch the ball in the end zone to cut the Snake River lead down to 15-13 the Panther needed to make a play to keep their playoff run alive.

Three Bingham County schools win state titles on Saturday

The Snake River and Firth High School volleyball teams along with the Shelley boys and girls cross country teams took home state championships on Saturday afternoon.

Snake River, Firth advance in state volleyball tournaments

COUER D'ALENE — Snake River and Firth took two steps toward state volleyball championships on Friday.
The Panthers, playing in the Class 3A tournament at Couer d'Alene High School, opened with a 21-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-21 victory over Fruitland. They followed that up with 25-19, 25-18, 25-19 victory over Filer.
Snake River will play Parma at 11 a.m. PDT this morning in the semifinal match.
The championship match is scheduled at 3 p.m.

Shelley steamrolls American Falls in 3A playoff opener

Last week Shelley coach Travis Hobson said he wanted his starters to play the opening two quarters against American Falls in their class 3A playoff opener.
His starters got a little longer break than they had anticipated.
A 28-point first quarter outburst was more than enough as Shelley cruised to a 52-0 victory in Holt Arena Thursday night.
American Falls was outmanned and a huge underdog to the top-seeded Russets so making any type of mistake could prove to be especially costly.

The quest for a state championship begins

POCATELLO — Believe it or not the high school football playoffs begin tonight. While many of the youngsters in our area will be out out trick-or-treating, three of the teams from Bingham County will be suiting up and beginning their quests for state football championships.

Former BHS tight end Josh Hill catches first career NFL passes

NEW ORLEANS — It was a weekend of firsts for former Blackfoot High School and Idaho State tight end Josh Hill last Sunday.
Hill the undrafted free agent by the Saints caught his first two passes in the NFL Sunday in New Orleans 35-17 win over the Buffalo Bills.
Hill caught two passes for 17 yards, the longest being nine yards.
So far this season, Hill has played in all eight of the Saints games, mostly on special teams.
New Orleans currently sits at 6-1 and in first place in the NFC South.

Clarke, Oseguera lead BHS soccer honors

BLACKFOOT — After helping lead the Blackfoot High School girls soccer team to their first state tournament appearance in a decade, senior Cassandra Clarke was honored with a selection to the High Country Conference's all-conference team.

POCATELLO – Scouting an opponent is important no matter the sport.
For the Shelley High School volleyball team, scouting their 3A state play-in game opponent Bear Lake was extremely important, and in fact it may have been the difference in the game.

Snake River wins District Five football championship

October 26, 2013

It was, as Brad Coombs described it, "the best Senior Night ever.
Coombs rushed for 87 yards and 4 touchdowns to help Snake River defeated Bear Lake 43-19 on Friday night. With the victory the Panthers (3-0, 6-3) claimed the District Five Class 3A championship. They will open the state playoffs with a home game against Teton at 1 p.m. on Nov. 1.
"That's definitely exciting," Coombs said of his big night. "Our offensive line really came to play this week. And credit our underclassmen for their role in this win."
