IDAHO FALLS â€” The schedule may have said this was the first game of the season for the Blackfoot Broncos boys soccer team, but Tuesday's opener with Skyline had all the make up of a playoff game.
Defending champion Shelley is the top team in the first Class 3A football poll of the season.
The Russets got seven first place votes.
Snake River is ranked fourth in the preseason poll.
Firth is ranked second in the initial Class 2A poll and Blackfoot is ranked third in the first Class 4A poll of the season.
Play begins this weekend with Idaho Falls at Blackfoot, Snake River at South Fremont, Firth at Westside and Shelley taking on West Jordan, Utah, in Holt Arena.

POCATELLO â€” For the first time since fall camp began Aug. 12, the Blackfoot High School football got the chance to hit somebody else.
