Cats end Broncos season 4-2

AMMON — The Blackfoot Broncos American Legion season came to a disappointing end on Saturday morning as the Eastern Division leading Madison Cats came from behind for a 4-2 win over the Broncos at Hillcrest High School relegating the Broncos to a tie for fifth in the district tournament.
"We played good ball, I thought that we played good enough to get a win today," Blackfoot skipper Jeff Katseanes said. "Madison are the number one team in their district and we had a great battle with them. We have nothing to hang our heads about."

Lindsay RBI single in seventh propels Broncos to 8-6 win over Panthers.

AMMON — Cole Mansanarez crushed a two run homer in the top of the third inning and Shane Parkinson launched a lead off home run in the bottom of the fifth as the boys of Bingham County collided on the diamond in a loser out affair at the American Legion District Tournament on Friday afternoon.
In the end Blackfoot were able to prevail in the thrilling game as Tyler Lindsay came through with a clutch 2-out, 2-RBI single in the top of the seventh inning to lift Blackfoot to a 8-6 victory over Snake River.
"What a game. Good pitching and some big hits," Blackfoot head coach Jeff Katseanes said. "It was a fun game to watch for a fan but not so much as a coach because it was a little stressful."

Broncos skin Grizz; tripped up by Green Sox

IONA — The Blackfoot Bronco American Legion squad took to the Bonneville High School baseball field for day one of the American Legion District Tournament on Thursday morning and at the end of a very long day on the diamond, Blackfoot came away with an unwanted split of the day as they knocked off the Skyline Grizzlies 7-3 in game one and then fell to the top seeded Burley Green Sox 3-0 in the afternoon match up.

Panthers fall to Hawks 3-0

AMMON — The Snake River Panthers took to the Hillcrest ball diamond on Thursday for a high noon showdown with the fourth seeded Canyon Ridge out of the western division. At the end of a rapidly paced affair, the Panthers came out on the short end of a 3-0 contest.
"We just had a couple of instances where we lost our focus a bit," Snake River head coach Tom Strickland said.

Broncos close season with double header split

July 20, 2012

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot American Legion baseball squad closed out their regular season on Friday afternoon as they welcomed the Eastern Division leading Madison Cat's to town for a non conference tilt on the diamond.
At the end of the day, Blackfoot finished with a split as they picked up a 5-3 win in game one and then came up just short in their comeback efforts in game two as they fell 9-7.

Panthers pick up two must wins

THOMAS — The Snake River Panther American Legion squad returned to full strength for their regular season ending double dip with Madison on Friday afternoon. Needing a pair of wins for a shot at next weeks district tournament the Panthers got just that as they pulled a sweep with a pair of victories 7-5 and 7-4.
"I'm pretty happy with how it turned out today," Snake River head coach Tom Strickland said. "We told the kids that if they wanted to play next week that they would need to come out focused, play hard and play like they have for most of the year."

Royals topple Panthers

AMMON — A short handed Snake River American Legion squad took to the field at Hillcrest on Tuesday evening in a make up game between the Royals and Panthers from an earlier season rain out.
At the end of seven innings of play Snake River were unable to overcome a slow night at the plate as they fell to the Royals 6-0.

Collins/Lippiello 2012 Rupes Two-Man Champions

BLACKFOOT — Russ Collins and Stephan Lippiello fired a 61.25 on Saturday and then followed that up with a solid 64.5 on Sunday to take the 2012 Rupes Two-Man Golf Tournament by four shots over the second place finishers in the Championship Flight at Blackfoot Municipal Golf Course.
"I felt like I played the best golf that I have ever played," Collins said. "My drives were long and straight this weekend."
"I think that the biggest thing was that we minimized our mistakes," Lippiello said. "We did a good job of keeping it out of trouble."

Broncos gallop to sweep of Beavers

BLACKFOOT — A day removed from a road sweep at Wood River the Blackfoot Broncos returned home on Tuesday for a non-conference double dip against American Falls. On a near perfect night for baseball, the Broncos continued their roll as they swept the visitors 8-5 and 14-7.
"I'm just pleased with the total effort from everybody in the line up," Blackfoot skipper Jeff Katseanes said. "One through sixteen the all did real well tonight. They are a fun group of kids to coach."

Panthers split with Cougars

July 4, 2012

THOMAS — On an otherwise odd evening on the diamond, the Snake River Panthers averted a home sweep at the hands of the Upper Valley Cougars as they rallied for five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in game two for a 7-6 walk off victory.
"We could have probably got two wins today, we were hitting the ball well enough in the first game to do that," Snake River head coach Tom Strickland said. "We just didn't play as good on the defensive side that we usually do. I don't know what it was but for whatever reason in both games we just sort of lost our focus a bit. Fortunately, we woke up at the end of the second game."
