Blackfoot tennis turns in historic day

IDAHO FALLS — You will have to excuse the Blackfoot tennis squad if they are walking just a little taller today because on Tuesday, they turned in one of the finest performances in program history as they have already qualified 9 players for next weeks state tournament.
The Broncos qualified all of those players in large part to having placed four and possibly a fifth competitor in Thursday afternoons district championship matches.
“Definitely in my forty years of tennis I don’t believe that Blackfoot has ever had this many finalists in the district tournament,” Blackfoot head coach Brint Jeffris said. “It was a really incredible day. One of the best performances ever.”

Panthers Roar Back for 9-7 Championship Game Victory!

AMERICAN FALLS — After a near disastrous first inning that witnessed the Bear Lake Bears push 7 runs across the plate, Snake River head coach James Carter told his assistant coaches that they would now see just how good they really were.
Apparently, the Panthers are pretty good as they rode the right arm of Zane Stephenson as they roared back for the 9-7 victory for their second straight conference title.
"I just couldn't be prouder of the way that these kids came back," Coach Carter said. "The guys just wouldn't quit and they swung the bats really well. They played hard and they should be proud of themselves for digging deep for this one."

Panthers advance to title game with 11-1 win over Marsh Valley

AMERICAN FALLS — The Snake River Panthers advanced to the 3A fifth district title game with an 11-1 five inning win over Marsh Valley on Monday afternoon.
"We're were we want to be, the district title game," Snake River head coach James Carter said.

Lady Broncos roll over Lady Knights 15-4

IDAHO FALLS- The Blackfoot Lady Broncos softball had another big win, when they faced off against the Hillcrest Knights. With the ten run rule in place Blackfoot took the win 15-4.
Two key hitters in the game were both seniors with Miraya Castaneda and Ally Smith. Castaneda started her game with a double, which was shortly followed by a three run dinger. But she wasn’t finished there, she also hit a triple and gained six RBIs for the night. Smith couldn’t let Castaneda have all the fun as she connected with a home run as well.

Broncos oh, so close in 4-3 eighth inning loss to Bees

IDAHO FALLS — The Blackfoot Broncos took the top seeded Bonneville Bees as far as the Bees could stretch on Monday afternoon but in the end, the Broncos came up just short as they fell 4-3 in eight innings to the heavily favored Bees.
“I think that they did great today. We took them into extra innings,” Blackfoot’s head coach Kenny Dahle said, “ I am proud of how they played. We haven’t been in a game like this all season.”

Lady Bears force second title game with Lady Panthers

ARIMO — The Snake River Lady Panthers had their opportunity to close out the 3A fifth district tournament on Monday afternoon but standing in their way was a very hot Bear Lake team that was riding the wave of momentum from their upset victory over the top seeded Marsh Valley squad in the game just previous.
That wave of momentum came crashing down on the Lady Panthers as the Lady Bears pounded out 15 hits in a 10-4 win over Snake River to force a second championship game today.

Broncos slide past Trojans 5-4

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Broncos kept their season alive on Saturday as they dispatched with a pesky Rigby squad 5-4 in the play in game for the High Country Conference tournament which begins today.
"It's tough to play a team three times in a week and it's really tough to beat a team three times in the same week," Blackfoot head coach Kenny Dahle said. "We did just enough to get the win though and even though it wasn't pretty, we got the job done."

Lady Broncos end regular season with split double header

POCATELLO — It was a roller coaster ride to the finish of the regular season on Thursday as the Blackfoot Lady Broncos split their road double dip at Century by first falling 5-4 in eight innings in the opening game before rebounding for a tidy 1-0 victory in the night cap.
"It was really, really important to come out and get that win in game two after losing that first one," Blackfoot head coach Matt Chavez said. "The attitudes of the entire team was just fantastic."

Seniors key 13-2 Broncos victory

BLACKFOOT — It was a fabulous way to end the regular season and for a quintet of seniors and even better way to leave the home field a winner as the Blackfoot Broncos sent Jeremy Leavitt, Jeremy Johnson, Jaron Katseanes, Colton Fairchild and Shawn Whitehead home with fond memories of their 13-2 conference win over Rigby on Wednesday evening.
"It was nice to get a home win," Blackfoot head coach Kenny Dahle said.
Not only did the seniors go away winners on senior night but they each played big roles in the final outcome of the game as well.

Panthers roll over Eagles 14-4 in five

THOMAS — The Snake River Panther baseball squad closed out the regular home schedule on Tuesday afternoon as they made short work of conference rival Marsh Valley with a five inning, 14-4 romp over the Eagles.
"I'm happy with the way that we are swinging the bats," Snake River head coach James Carter said. "We just need to keep our heads on straight, go over to Bear Lake on Thursday and take care of business."
