BLACKFOOT â€” I hope everyone out there enjoyed their Christmas holiday with family, friends and loved ones.
But as most of you enjoyed the day I spent it in font of my computer working on the second half of the All-Bingham County football team.
In Tuesday's Morning News I named the first and second team offenses chosen by me from the performances I saw during the season.
Today I will reveal the defensive players for the county.
Without further ado the All-Bingham County defense.
BLACKFOOT â€” Merry Christmas everyone, I hope that you all are getting the chance to the enjoy the holidays with friends, family and loved ones.
As you know the sports world never stops, it just slows down a bit during the final week of the year and it allows me the opportunity to catch up on some things from the first half of the school year and take a little time off.
WIth that being said this is the first of two All-Bingham County football teams, today you will see the offense and on Thursday you will see the defense.
BLACKFOOT â€” A long week came to end for the Blackfoot boys basketball team Saturday night with an important 4A District 5/6 match-up with Pocatello.
Playing their third game in four night's coming off Friday night's win over crosstown Snake River. Blackfoot head coach Dan Hale his kids were going to be tired and need to find a way to win an important game.
BLACKFOOT â€” A week ago in Thomas the Snake River and Blackfoot boys basketball teams battled for the full 32 minutes, but it was the Panthers that were able to overcome a 10-point fourth quarter deficit to walk away with the win.
Friday night the two teams met for the second and final time this season in Blackfoot and for two and aha half quarters the game was again a battle.
But this time the Broncos found some late life finishing the third quarter on a 10-0 run and carrying the momentum into the fourth quarter as they took down the Panthers 51-43.
THOMAS â€” When the Snake River and Blackfoot teams met just before Thanksgiving the Broncos escaped with a one-point home win.
The two teams met for the second and final time this season on Thursday at Snake River, and this time the result was vastly different as the Panthers came out ready to play.
Scout Baldwin scored 10 of the Panther first 13 points to lead Snake River to a 64-47 win over Blackfoot.
SHELLEY â€”Â So far this season game have gone one of two ways for the Shelley Lady Russets, one a quick start and then a struggle to hold on at the end. Or two, A slow start and then a second half rally to get back into the game.
Wednesday night it was a hot start and some big plays down the stretch that gave the Lady Russet s 44-43 win over Marsh Valley.
BLACKFOOT â€” After leading the Shelley Russets to their second consecutive 3A state championship, Shelley quarterback Kaden Schmitt was named the 3A player of the year.
THOMAS â€” Coming of an emotional win over rival Blackfoot the night before, the Snake River boys basketball team took the floor again Saturday night against another Bingham County rival and a team that was coming of an emotional rivalry game win as well in Aberdeen.
And while emotion was high on both sides, it would be the size and shooting of Snake River that proved to be too much for the Tigers to handle as the Panthers earned a 60-34 win.
THOMAS â€” When Blackfoot and Snake River meet regardless the sport anything can and does happen.
That was the case again Friday night as the Panthers and Broncos boys basketball teams battled to the very end with the Panthers coming back for a 43-40 lead in front of a packed house at Snake River High School.
SHELLEY â€” When the Shelley and Snake River girls basketball teams met last Saturday in Thomas it was a third quarter run by the home team that earned the Panthers the victory.
The teams met again in Shelley Thursday night and the outcome was much different than six days earlier.
