Russets come back for season sweep of Broncos

SHELLEY — It was a tale of two halves on Wednesday evening with Blackfoot winning the first half and Shelley winning the second and in the end, it was the Russets who claimed victory with a 61-56 win on senior night.
"I was proud of our seniors tonight," Shelley head coach Dave Hadley said. "I thought that all of our seniors did a good job of contributing and that's a neat thing because I owe those kids an awful lot for what they've given to our program over the past couple of years and I was proud and happy for them to have a good night and finish on a win."

Lady Eagles soar over Lady Panthers in district title game

POCATELLO — A fifth district tournament crown was on the line at Highland High School Tuesday evening as the Snake River Lady Panthers and the Marsh Valley Lady Eagles squared off for the rubber match of their season series.
During the regular season, the team split with one another and Tuesday nights contest was as competitive as the regular season was but in the end, Marsh Valley was a shade better on Tuesday as they took the title away from Snake River with a 49-36 victory.

Lady Panthers cruise by American Falls

POCATELLO — After a three ball from American Falls junior Kimberlyn Fehringer, the Snake River Lady Panthers found themselves trailing by three. That lead was short lived however, as Snake River closed the first quarter on a 10-0 run, putting the Lady Panthers up for good as they coasted to a 34-13 victory.
"This probably wasn't the most entertaining game to watch as a fan but the girls new that they were supposed to win this game and it can be real easy to look past it," Snake River head coach Steven Morton said. "How it works now is win and move on and it doesn't matter how you do it."

Broncos claim much needed victory

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Broncos entered Friday nights non-conference tilt with Pocatello in desperate need of a win. Blackfoot got just what the doctor ordered with a 57-53 win, snapping a five game losing streak.
"We decided to shake things up a little tonight, we were on a losing streak and I thought that we needed to change the chemistry a little and I thought that it worked out for the best," Blackfoot head coach Jonathan Packer said. "I am just really happy for the kids, they did everything that they needed to do too get the win tonight."

Panthers roll on senior night

THOMAS - The Snake River Panthers bid a fond farewell to seven graduating seniors Friday night as they welcomed the American Falls Beavers to town. In a game that was not at close as the final score, the Panthers dominated the contest in every aspect on their way to a 59-39 final.
"This is a great group of kids," said Coach Robert Coombs. "They have played hard all year and they practice hard as well. I think that they try as hard as any group we have ever had here at Snake River."

Broncos pin Panthers 72-3

BLACKFOOT — A near capacity crowd was on hand at Blackfoot High School as a pair of storied wrestling programs collided on the mats for a non-conference duel.
When the dust had settled, the men in black stood triumphant with a convincing 72-3 victory over Snake River.
"It feels good to renew the heritage of this match," Blackfoot head coach Brian Barlow said. "Shoot, you have one of the most storied programs on one side of the river and another on the other side of the river and when you meet in the gym and feel the buzz, it's a pretty special place here at Blackfoot High School."

Bees hand Broncos stinging loss

BLACKFOOT — Blackfoot had more than their fair share of chances to get a conference win over Bonneville on Wednesday night. In the end, the Bees found a way to get it done however, as Blackfoot was left shaking their heads after a disappointing 74-71 overtime loss at Blackfoot High School.
"I don't think that we deserved to win after giving up the lead and playing soft like we did," Blackfoot head coach Jonathan Packer said. "We didn't play much defense at all in the second half, we were lucky to be there at the end."

Snake River seniors say good bye

THOMAS — It was senior night at Snake River High School on Wednesday evening as 8 seniors were honored for their contributions to the Snake River wrestling program over the years.
In addition, the Panthers welcomed conference rival American Falls for what has become one of the hottest rivalries on the mats in all of Southeastern Idaho.
At the end of the night, American Falls was able to get key wins, in some tightly contested matches, sending the Panther faithful home with a 46-27 loss.

THOMAS — Usually, during the course of a game there is one pivotal moment, a game changing play that defines the course and outcome of the game. On Tuesday evening, that moment may have been the Star Spangled Banner, the player introductions, or the opening tip for that matter. The game was never in doubt as Snake River led from wire-to-wire for a 68-36, mercy rule shortened, non-conference victory.

"Junior Jimmer!" Watt drops 25 in Panther win

THOMAS — The chant went up from a young group of awestruck Panther fans early in the fourth quarter of Snake Rivers 52-33 conference win over Marsh Valley on Friday night.
"Junior Jimmer!" they chanted as Candon Watt stepped back and cooly drilled his fourth trey of the night for 3 of his game high 25.
