FRUITLAND â€“ The Snake River Panthers erupted for 10 runs over the fourth and fifth innings to avenge last seasonâ€™s Class 3A semifinal loss to the Kimberly Bulldogs by dispatching them 10-0 in five innings on Friday.

BOISE â€“ For the first time in over 12 years the Blackfoot Bronco baseball team picked up a state Class 4A tournament win. Fresh off a disappointing round one loss on Thursday, the Broncos got the big monkey off their backs with a thrilling 4-3 win over Minico on Friday.
POST FALLS â€“ The dream season for the Blackfoot Lady Bronco softball team came to an end on Friday evening with Blackfoot winning one, but dropping two games on day one of the 4A state softball tournament.
The day began well enough with Blackfoot crushing Canyon Ridge, 10-2.
Morningrose Tobey was dominant in the pitching circle for the Lady Broncos while the offense scored early and often in the rout.
Next up for the Lady Broncos was Lakeland which advanced into the second round with a walkoff two-run homer to down heavily favored Kuna.
After defeating Canyon Ridge 10-2 in the opening round of the state Class 4A softball tournament, Blackfoot lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to Lakeland on Friday. The Broncos then had to turn around and play Skyview. Check Saturday's print edition for a wrapup.
Snake River's baseball team reached the championship game of the Class 3A state tournament by beating Kimberly 10-0 on Friday. Check out the Morning News print edition on Saturday for complete details. The Panthers will likely play old nemesis Fruitland, which played later that night.
Blackfoot's baseball team beat Minico 4-3 in the consolation round of the state baseball tournament today. The Broncos softball team beat Canyon Ridge 10-2 and plays again later today. Meanwhile, in the Class 2A tournament, Melba defeated Firth 3-1 to end the Cougars' season.

FRUITLAND â€” The Snake River Panthers opened their 2013 3A state baseball tournament on Thursday afternoon and behind a complete game, 14 strikeout shut out by Zane Stephenson, the Panthers advanced to today's semi-finals with a 7-0 victory over Payette.
The fabulous five some of Aberdeen have accomplished their goal, as Hazel Pratt, Breanna Duffin, Whitney Wahlen, April Beck and Sophia Duffin combined to shoot a two day total team score of 852 at the 2A state tournament in Couer D'Alene on Monday and Tuesday.
That score was a full 14 strokes better than second place McCall-Donnelly as the Lady Tigers brought home the coveted blue trophy for their 2A state championship.
BLACKFOOT - Put the 2013 prep state golf tournament in the books, and with it another Higham as Keifer Higham continued the long standing golfing tradition of his family with a two day score of 149 to capture the boys 3A state championship played at Highlands Golf Course in Post Falls.
BLACKFOOT â€” The fourth district rodeo made its annual trip to the Eastern Idaho State Fairgrounds on Friday night as the local cowboys and cowgirls kicked off the first of four rodeo's which will be held over the next two weekends.
On a perfect night weather wise, the local athletes thrilled the crowd all evening long as several fast times and high scores were recorded as the race for the state rodeo continued in earnest.
