BLACKFOOT — September weather was warmer and drier in 2011 than the 20-year average, but October looks to get started much cooler and wetter.
A strong, slow-moving storm is expected to move through Southeast Idaho this week, bringing cooler temperatures, rain and even snow to higher elevations.
Widespread precipitation is expected today and tomorrow with a chance of showers through Friday. Mountain snowfall of 6-10 inches above 8,000 feet is forecast through Friday.
BLACKFOOT — Local David Archuleta fans are getting an early Christmas gift this year—the popular singer will be making a stop at the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center Dec. 9 as part of his much-anticipated "My Kind of Christmas Tour."
Tickets go on sale Saturday and are $27.50 plus a $3.50 service fee. Tickets will be on sale at the BPAC from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Tickets can also be purchased beginning at 10 a.m. by calling 317-5508 or online at www.blackfootpac.com. All seats are reserved.
BLACKFOOT — Last Wednesday, Planning and Zoning (P&Z) commissioners voted not to recommend approval of the subdivision request made by Ramon Guerra at 35 S. 250 E., Blackfoot. The recommendations of the P&Z commissioners are heard by the Bingham County commissioners.
Guerra had requested a re-plat to Four Seasons Ranch Subdivision on Lots 8 and 9 to create three-lots in a residential/agriculture zone four miles east of Blackfoot.
Ralph Roy Reeves, 83; of Pingree passed away Friday, September 30, 2011 in Pocatello at the Portneuf Medical Center.
Ralph was born on October 26, 1927 in Adair County, Iowa the son of Carl Delmar and Winnifred Alberta Ford Reeves.
He served in the Army Air force Reserves and served in WWII.
He married Suzanne Howe on October 26, 1958 in Greenfield, Iowa. She passed away January 1, 1976.
He married Nancy Reed on June 15, 1990 in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Heber Glen Bevan, 83, Riverside-resident, passed away, Saturday morning, October 1, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Riverside LDS 2nd Ward in Riverside with Bishop Brett Williams conducting. The Family will receive friends at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 So. Shilling, Blackfoot, Thursday October 6 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Riverside L.D.S. Chapel. Burial will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
Orson Lynn Broadbent was born October 21, 1948 in Salmon, Idaho to Donna Leavitt Broadbent and Orson Swainston Broadbent.
After serving a mission in Austin, Texas, Lynn returned and found his eternal companion Jackie Lynn Jacobson and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 11, 1972. They were blessed with two daughters Wendi Lynn Lane (Jim Lane, Jr, Virginia) and Ruthan Killian (Darren Killian, Firth).

RIGBY — The dynamic duo of Trae Pilster and Colby Pearson were a lethal combination on Friday night as the tandem connected 9 times for 162 yards and two touchdowns as the visiting Blackfoot Broncos trampled all over the homecoming festivities of the Rigby Trojans.
"We knew that we could pass on them and we were able to take advantage of a few things out there," Pilster said.
"We watched a lot of film on them and we knew coming in that we would be able to pass the ball on them," added Pearson.
BLACKFOOT — Bingham County has 10 cemetery districts.
The state tax commission approves these districts and makes sure they do not overlap, said Bingham County Election Director Marlene Jensen.
Cemetery districts in Bingham County are Aberdeen, Basalt-Goshen-Firth, Groveland, Moreland, Riverside-Thomas, Riverview, Shelley, Springfield-Sterling, Taylor and Woodville.
BLACKFOOT — Johnathan Franklin Jackman, age 33, was before Bingham County District Judge Jon Shindurling Tuesday and found guilty of a probation violation.
Jackman has been accepted into the Wood Pilot Project that is run out of Bonneville County by Judge Shindurling.
The Wood Pilot Project is an intensive drug rehabilitation program that begins with 30 to 90 days of incarceration.
