BLACKFOOT — Bingham County has 10 cemetery districts.
The state tax commission approves these districts and makes sure they do not overlap, said Bingham County Election Director Marlene Jensen.
Cemetery districts in Bingham County are Aberdeen, Basalt-Goshen-Firth, Groveland, Moreland, Riverside-Thomas, Riverview, Shelley, Springfield-Sterling, Taylor and Woodville.
BLACKFOOT — Johnathan Franklin Jackman, age 33, was before Bingham County District Judge Jon Shindurling Tuesday and found guilty of a probation violation.
Jackman has been accepted into the Wood Pilot Project that is run out of Bonneville County by Judge Shindurling.
The Wood Pilot Project is an intensive drug rehabilitation program that begins with 30 to 90 days of incarceration.
BLACKFOOT — Students, teachers and parents at I.T. Stoddard Elementary kicked off their reading challenge Friday with a "Literacy Luau." The challenge is part of the Idaho Reads! VISTA program.
The students are given a list of 41 books to read with a parent, teacher or adult throughout the school year. If they complete the challenge by March 23, they will be invited to a Literacy Luau party in April to celebrate their accomplishment.

Dean Watt, 94, of Omaha, Nebraska formerly of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away September 28, 2011.
Graveside services are under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot and will be announced.
With her family at her side, Lois Wilcox, age 56, died peacefully on Tuesday evening, September 27, 2011, at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho, after a courage’s battle with cancer.
Lois was born in Montpelier, Idaho on November 18, 1954, to Earl Raymond Wilcox and Donna Robison Wilcox. She grew up in Montpelier, graduating from Bear Lake High School in 1973. She moved with her family to Blackfoot, Idaho later that same year. She completed an Associate’s degree at Rick’s College, and furthered her education at Idaho State University.
BLACKFOOT — It was a near perfect day for a soccer game on the Blackfoot pitch on Thursday afternoon as the Blackfoot Broncos squared off with conference rival Hillcrest on an evening when Blackfoot paid a fond farewell to four seniors.
Unfortunately, those seniors didn't pick up a win in their final home contest but they didn't lose either, finishing in a 1-1 tie.

BLACKFOOT — Planning and Zoning Commissioners approved variances for the East Idaho Regional Waste Water Authority and Vickie Burke and denied a variance to Phillip and Nancy Turner at Wednesday night's hearing.
No representative from the East Idaho Regional Waste Water Authority attended the hearing.
When the water facility was built, the setback requirement to a road Right of Way was 30 feet. Since more than 400 vehicles travel this road each day, the road is now considered a major arterial. Major arterials require a 50-foot setback.
THOMAS — A week ago the Snake River volleyball squad gutted out a four game victory over Sugar-Salem, looking a little leg weary in the effort. After a rare weekend off, the Lady Panthers retook to their home court looking for a conference win as American Falls came calling.
The rest did the Panthers good as they cruised to a relatively easy 25-7, 25-10, 25-10 victory.
"I think that they came back with a new focus tonight," Snake River head coach Shelli VanOrden said. "I was happy with how they came out and performed."

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Community Players will begin their 2011-2012 season with "The Great Ice Cream Scheme," opening Friday at the Nuart Theater, 195 N. Broadway.
"The Great Ice Cream Scheme" will run Sept. 30, Oct. 1, 3, 7, 8 and 10. The story follows Pop and his Pop Sicle's Ice Cream Parlor, which is the most popular in town thanks to Pop's secret recipe. But when a cold-hearted villain, I.C. Custard, decides to steal Pop's recipe, the story takes an exciting turn.
Tickets are $7 or $5 on opening night. Shows start at 7:30 p.m.
