Bronco rally falls just short

May 10, 2012

IDAHO FALLS — The number was one on Thursday night for the Blackfoot Broncos as they stood one game away from the coveted berth into the state tournament. One team stood in their way and at the end of seven innings of hard fought baseball, one run prevented the Broncos from fulfilling their season long goal as they fell 9-8 to the Knights of Hillcrest at Melalueca Field.
"One more out," Blackfoot head coach Kenny Dahle said. "We made a huge step as a program. We were one out from getting into the state tournament. These kids battled all year long, they battled all day today. I'm proud of them and I think that our program is heading in the right direction."

Stalker teacher gets haircut for good cause

May 8, 2012

Teachers at Stalker Elementary School were accosted with silly string, zapped with strange hair color and attacked with stickers and rubber stamps at school on Tuesday. Fifth grade teacher Amanda Jones even got her hair whacked off by a student! The culprits were all students...and no one got sent to the principal's office!
According to Stalker's office secretary Laurie Kearsley it was all part of a fun day to reward students who had a 7-point gain or received an 'advanced' or 'proficient' rating on their ISAT (Idaho Standard Achievement Test) scores.

May 8, 2012

AMERICAN FALLS — After a near disastrous first inning that witnessed the Bear Lake Bears push 7 runs across the plate, Snake River head coach James Carter told his assistant coaches that they would now see just how good they really were.
Apparently, the Panthers are pretty good as they rode the right arm of Zane Stephenson as they roared back for the 9-7 victory for their second straight conference title.
"I just couldn't be prouder of the way that these kids came back," Coach Carter said. "The guys just wouldn't quit and they swung the bats really well. They played hard and they should be proud of themselves for digging deep for this one."
