Blackfoot police seek public's help

The Blackfoot Police Department is asking for assistance in identifying two male persons who committed a burglary at the Maverik convenience store in Blackfoot on June 16. The males pictured entered the store shortly before midnight and stole a large amount of beer. The males appear to be in their late teens or early 20s and may have been driving a white car with a loud muffler.
"Two guys came in and picked up four 12-packs of beer," said Maverik manager Cheri Randall. "They were walking like they were going to the counter and then ran out the door.

Blackfoot woman shares love of art with children

Chaune Bumgarner proudly displays some of her students' artwork that will be showcased in an art show Thursday.
Chaune Bumgarner has an eye for art and the endless capacity to love children. That is why Bumgarner is thrilled to present "Art by Kids" first ever art show Thursday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The 37 students will be showcasing five to seven of their best pieces including brightly colored art of dinosaurs, fairies, flowers and abstract images in various different mediums.

Maxine May Thomas Cushman, 93

Maxine May (Thomas) Cushman, 93, of Blackfoot passed away June 15, 2012 as the result of an auto accident. 
She was born in Spokane, Wash., in 1919.  She was a long-time business owner in Blackfoot and Pocatello, owning Cushman’s Paint and Glass, Cushman’s Crafts and Cushman’s Bookkeeping and Tax Preparation. 

Margaret Borresen, 93

Margaret Celestia Borresen passed away June 16, 2012, in Boise. 
Margaret was born June 16, 1919, in Richfield to Bill and Celestine Tomlinson.  Margaret attended Idaho State University, receiving a two-year degree in Education, transferred to the University of Idaho, where she received her BS in Home Economics. 
In 1943, while attending University of Idaho, she met the love of her life, Con Borresen, and they were married for 50 years.

Customers mourn longtime business owner

While Cushman's craft stores in Blackfoot and Pocatello were open for business Monday, the steady stream of those coming in were there to offer their condolences to the Cushman family over the
loss of their mother, businesswoman and longtime Blackfoot resident - Maxine Cushman.
Cushman, 93, died from injuries received in a car accident north of the Fort Hall exit on Interstate 15 Friday evening. Idaho State Police officials said Cushman, who was driving a 2002 Honda Odyssey van, came upon

IPAD THEFT: June 2, 10:12 p.m.: A woman said someone has broken into her home and stolen her IPAD. She said the screen to her window is broken.

Aberdeen man's antique collection has gone wild

Clint Krehbiel caught the collecting bug early in life.
He still has the double barrel shotgun he bought when he was 12 years old.
And, he has a whole lot more, including guns, lots and lots of wrenches and other tools, advertising signs, three jailhouse doors. The list goes on and on.
"I have always enjoyed antiques," Krehbiel said. "It has just been a hobby."
The Kansas native and his wife Marge, an Aberdeen native who headed east for college, returned to Idaho in the early 1960s.

POCATELLO — It was a banner day for a fine group of fourth district rodeo stars as ten different National Finals Rodeo spots were awarded to fourth district cowboys including a pair of state champions as Skylerr Valentine and Cooper Clemens each claimed state titles by days end.

Quarter Horse sold for Relay for Life

The gallery of the Blackfoot Livestock Auction was about three-quarters full Friday afternoon for the auction of the sorrel filly quarter horse named Mini. The Relay for Life team, "Pony Up for a Cure," donated the money raised to the Blackfoot Relay for Life.
Tracy and Tess Lake donated the 2-year-old filly, Mini.
Jack Webb was the highest bidder. He purchased Mini for $1,075. Other people donated items that were also auctioned.
The high bidder (two times) for a painting and scarf was the Blackfoot Livestock Auction. The bids totaled $160.
