Bees take round one, 3-2 over Broncos

BLACKFOOT — The top two teams in the High Country Conference squared off on the pitch at Blackfoot High School on Thursday afternoon as the undefeated Broncos took on the undefeated Bees in a classic soccer showdown.
In a back and forth affair, the Bees showed why they are the defending 4A state champions as they tallied a pair of second half goals to escape with a 3-2 victory.

Justin Michael Lathrop, 19

Justin Michael Lathrop, 19, of Basalt returned to his Heavenly Father on Monday, Sept. 5, 2011.
He was born on May 25, 1992, at Fort Carson, Colo., to Michael and Elizabeth Kremin Lathrop. 
He spent his early years in Sterling and Dixon, Ill. In 1996 the family moved to Utah and in 1997 moved to Idaho, where he spent the remaining years of his life. Justin attended school in Firth, and graduated from Firth High School in 2010.

Tamara Rose ‘Rosi’ Medicine Horse, 33

Tamara Rose “Rosi” Medicine Horse, 33, of Blackfoot passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
Rosi was born Jan. 16, 1978, in Pocatello to Thomas Medicine Horse and Ramona Lee Dixey. She attended schools in the Blackfoot School District and attended college at Idaho State University. She lived in Blackfoot, Nebraska, Texas, Arizona and Utah.
She was married to Nathanial Yabeney; they were later divorced.
She was employed with the 477 Human Resources Department for the Shoshone Bannock Tribes.

Dr. Lucile Nye Schober, 92

Dr. Lucile “Doc” Nye Schober, formerly of Blackfoot, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011 after suffering a major heart attack.
Doc was born on April 28, 1919, in Boise where her family was staying and moved back to Beverly Hills, Calif., shortly thereafter. 
Doc was as smart as a whip, enabling her take accelerated classes and graduating from Beverly Hills High two years early. She then attended USC and after graduation continued on to attain degrees in both chiropractic and naturopathic medicine in 1941 where she graduated at the top of her class.

Lila Nadine Oleson, 85

Lila Nadine Oleson, 85, of Blackfoot passed away Sept. 6, 2011, at the Renaissance Assisted Living in Blackfoot.
She was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Firth, the daughter of George Cederberg and Mary Frederiksen Cederberg.
Lila has lived her whole life in the Firth and Blackfoot area. She spent the winter in Wapello and summers at the ranch on the Blackfoot Reservoir. She attended school in Firth and graduated from Firth High School.
On Feb. 28, 1950, she married Joe Oleson in Blackfoot. He preceded her in death in 1988.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Firth.

Garth Lee, 82

Garth Lee, 82, of Blackfoot passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at his home in
Moreland surrounded by his family. He left peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Garth was the second of five children born to William Moss and Elda Mae Kroll Lee on May 26, 1929, in Rigby. He attended school in Ammon and Lincoln until his family moved to Coolidge, Ariz., when he was 16 where he continued his education. As a young man, Garth worked at a service station, learning mechanical skills from his father.

Elsie E. Winkler, 95

Elsie Eleanor Winkler went to her heavenly home on Sept. 1, 2011.
Born in Blackfoot on Nov. 1, 1915, of Swedish emigrant parents, Elsie was one of nine children born to Amanda and Carl Anderson. Elsie was graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1934.

Clayton Charles Young, 32

Clayton Charles Young, 32, of Blackfoot passed away, Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, from injuries sustained in a car accident.
He was born July 19, 1979, in Blackfoot, the son of Randy and Linda Daley Young.
Clayton received his education in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School.
He married Ly Doung and they were later divorced, but their greatest accomplishments were the birth of their two sons, Kenny (11) and Tommy (8).
He worked for Action Rooter and Young’s Septic Service.
Clayton enjoyed playing pool, fishing, music and especially spending time with his boys.

Tamara Rose “Rosi” Medicine Horse, 33, of Blackfoot passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
 Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot.  Rosi will be taken to the Eleanor Dixey residence on Highway 91 at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, and remain there until Native American Burial Services take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at the Lincoln Creek Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at condolences@hawkerfuneralhome.com.

Desmond C. Weiser, 47

September 7, 2011

FORT HALL — Desmond Craig Weiser, 47, passed away due to injuries received in an automobile accident on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011.
Traditional Native American teepee viewing will be held from noon Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the Karen Weiser residence on Pokibro Lane, Gibson, until burial in the Gibson cemetery on East Ferry Butte road, Fort Hall Reservation.
A full obituary is forthcoming. All funeral arrangements are under the care of the Weiser family.
