BLACKFOOT â As they talked about Friday's scheduled execution of their son's killer on Wednesday, Junior and Julie Haddon often became emotional.
Paul Ezra Rhoades murdered 20-year-old Nolan Haddon at an Idaho Falls convenience store on March 16, 1987. If the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals doesn't intervene, as Rhoades' attorneys have asked it to do, he will be executed at 8 a.m. on Friday.
"No, it don't," Junior Haddon said of Rhoades' death bringing closure. "It don't close anything. It just finalizes it."
IDAHO FALLS â Early foul trouble spelled trouble for the Blackfoot Lady Broncos as they fell to 5A Idaho Falls 51-33 on Wednesday evening.
"We have both of our guards pick up those three early fouls and it really changed what we wanted to do," Blackfoot head coach Merle Smith said. "It did give us a chance to get other girls on our bench into the game which gave them all some valuable experience."
Blackfoot and Idaho Falls traded baskets throughout the first quarter with Kylie Coby and Boo Burnett scoring 4 points each in the opening stanza as the Lady Broncos took a 10-8 lead.
Doris Dean (Taylor) England passed away June 8, 2011 in Fairbanks, Alaska.Â Her family will lay her to rest on Nov.19 in the Moreland Cemetery.
The family would like to visit at 10 a.m.Â at the Northwest Stake Center, 95 North 740 West Moreland. A service will follow Â at 11 a.m.
Marilyn Fackrell Barrus, 76, of Firth passed away Tuesday, Nov.15, 2011 at
her home. She passed away peacefully with her sweetheart by her side.
Marilyn was born March 23, 1935 in Blackfoot to Parsons LaMonde Fackrell and Ida Marie Hansen. She attended school in Blackfoot.
On June 11, 1952 Marilyn married LaMar Noble Barrus in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they had six children, Kanin, Guy, Nanett, Steven, Jeffrey and David.
CHEHALIS, Wash. â Jeffrey Lee Alverson a loving husband, father, and friend âpassed away at his home surrounded by loved ones on Nov. 10, 2011, at the age of 46.
Jeff was born Jan. 20, 1965 in Olympia, Wash., to Ray and Gloria Alverson, and was the youngest of four children. He attended Lacey High School, and went on to attend college at Idaho State University, where he graduated with a degree in business. There, he met Julie Ann Norton, the love and light of his life. They married in the fall of 1987, and their marriage was later sealed in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple on Nov. 12, 1994.
ST. ANTHONY â The Firth Lady Cougars looked in mid season form on Tuesday nights season opener as they traveled to 3A South Fremont for a non-conference showdown with the Lady Cougars of South Fremont.
In the end, it wasn't much of a contest however as Firth built a big first quarter lead and then played add on for the remainder of the night in a impressive 48-27 victory.
"I am just so proud of the kids," Firth head coach Sharla Cook said. "I really thought that they did an excellent job showing poise and confidence all night."
BLACKFOOT â Three people were arrested on drug trafficking charges Monday after an investigation by the Bingham County Sheriff's Office and Bear River Drug Task Force revealed the trio was in possession of 2.7 pounds of marijuana.
The Bingham County Sheriff's Office received an anonymous tip Nov. 12 that indicated drugs were to be transported to the Blackfoot area in a U-Haul truck from California. The U-Haul truck was located Sunday behind a residence west of Blackfoot at 1274 Hoff Road.

Missing person James Clarke has been located and is safe and with his family. The Blackfoot Police thanks everyone who helped spread the message.
BLACKFOOT â The Blackfoot Police Department is seeking information about a missing Blackfoot man who was last in contact with family Nov. 10.
James Clarke, 85, is a white male. He is 5-foot 10 and weighs 160 pounds with grey hair and grey eyes.
Clarke left Blackfoot Nov. 10 en -route to Warsaw, Mo. He was driving a silver 2005 Chevrolet Malibu four-door sedan with Idaho license plate 4B 7040.
BOISE (AP) â The attorneys for condemned Idaho inmate Paul Ezra Rhoades have filed an emergency appeal to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court in hopes of staving off the execution set for Friday morning.
Clara Lee âLucyâ Jensen, 74, of Blackfoot, passed away on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from complications of a stroke.Â Â Â Â Â Â
Lucy was born on March 27, 1937 in Soda Springs to Fredrick and Jane Johnson Kern.Â She was raised in the Soda Springs area and graduated from Soda Springs High School.Â
