BLACKFOOT â€” A pilot in an experimental aircraft made an emergency landing Friday on an island in the Snake River after his plane struck a bird.
The pilot, Joel Milloway, of Idaho Falls, was piloting a single-engine light aircraft along the Snake River when a flock of birds came up from the water. A bird struck the plane and and caused a vibration on the engine. Milloway decided to make an emergency landing on a gravel bar in the Snake River just north of Blackfoot approximately 10:40 a.m.
Kenneth Everett Rodgers was born August 11, 1945 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Russel Joseph and Verda Lottie Rodgers. He lived in Texas for most of his adult life and resided in Euless, Texas for the past several years. He passed away in his home after a short fight against cancer on Friday, July 29, 2011. He was 65 years old.
He graduated from Snake River High School in 1963. He worked for American Potato for several years. After moving to Texas, he worked in the swimming pool business. He had a passion for the outdoors that included playing golf but mostly enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Evelyn Ruth Capson Stites, 71, of Tulare, Calif., went home to our Heavenly Father on July 8, 2011.
Evelyn was born in Ely, Nev., on March 4, 1940, but lived most of her life in Blackfoot area before coming to the cities of Visalia in 1986 and Tulare in 1996.
Evelyn was a retired restaurant manager and home health aide for agencies in this area.
Our beloved son, brother, nephew, and grandson Adrian Antoine Ramirez was chosen to be with his Heavenly Father, our Creator, on Wednesday, August 3, 2011.
Adrian was born on May 13, 2011 to Jose Ramirez and Karen Johnson in Blackfoot, Idaho.
In his short time with us he brought much happiness and smiles to everyone who knew him. He loved visiting and playing with his brothers and cousins.
Johnie Romero Chavis, 86, of Basalt, Idaho passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the Basalt LDS Church with Bishop Clair Christensen conducting.

Interment will be in the Firth Cemetery under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho with Military Honors presented by the American Legion Stewart Hoover Post #23.
POCATELLO-Christian Hatton, 85, passed away Thursday morning August 4, 2011 at a local care facility in Pocatello form natural causes.
There will be a Private Graveside Service only. Services are under the care and direction of Colonial Funeral Home 233-1500.

BLACKFOOT â€” A former Blackfoot man has created a group on Facebook that has more than 1,100 Blackfoot natives reminiscing about their past.
John Brann, who graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1990 and currently lives in Portland, Ore., created the Facebook group "You grew up in Blackfoot, Idaho if you rememberâ€¦ " at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Within 24 hours the group had more than 1,000 members and 1,600 posts.
Brann created the group with the idea that he and a few of his friends would share their memories of growing up in Blackfoot.
Our beautiful, loving and vivacious daughter, sister, mother, auntie and friend, Lana Nicole Rosalez, 39, moved on to her next adventure on July 30, 2011.
Lana was born May 2, 1972, in Blackfoot to Bacilio and Elaine Broncho Rosalez and lived her life to the fullest all the way through.
Worth B. McNeel, 90, a longtime resident of Blackfoot, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011 in Pocatello.
He was born in Afton, Wyo., on Feb. 19, 1921, to Wallace Granville McNeel and Mary Barber McNeel. He was the oldest of four children. He had two sisters, Clara (Blaine) Linford and Madeline (Frank) Hoopes and a brother, George (Vernice) McNeel.
At the age of six he started school at the Etna, Wyo., Grade School. He went on to the Star Valley High School in Afton, Wyo. He graduated in June 1940.
