Marguerite Young King, 95

June 1, 2011

Marguerite Young King, 95, of Firth died peacefully in her home on May 23, 2011.
 
Marguerite was born November 17, 1915 in Coyote (now called Antimony) Utah to William Riley and Clara Belle Savage Young.  She attended high school in Circleville, Utah.
 
She married Merrill L. King on May 8, 1933.  When they had saved enough money to travel to Salt Lake City, they were sealed in the temple on February 6, 1934.
 

Darthella Leavitt, 80

Darthella Leavitt peacefully passed away May 25, 2011 at the age of 80 surrounded by family at her home at The Gables Assisted Living Center of Shelley. 
 
She was born June 13, 1930 to Jesse Stephen and Mary Alta Collings Downs in Deer Lodge, Montana.  She grew up in Lewisville Idaho where she attended Midway High School. 
 

Timothy Fredrick Swenson, 65

POCATELLO - Family and friends of Tim Swenson announce his departure on 21 May 2011 to a new home, now in heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Timothy Fredrick Swenson, 65 passed away from the ravages of cancer at Portneuf Regional Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho on Saturday, May 21,2011 surrounded by his family.

William Frew, 81

William Frew, 81, died Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
 
Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 3, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Little Lost River Community Church in Howe.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the church.  Interment will be in the Howe Cemetery under the direction of the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Arco.

Jack Edwin Merritt, 77

Jack Edwin Merritt, 77, longtime businessman and resident of Blackfoot passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 at his home from a lingering illness.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Blackfoot 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 187 N. Ash St.,  with Bishop Tad Pearson conducting.
The family will meet with friends on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho. and for one hour prior to the service at the church.

ARCO — June Talbot Williams, 85, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011, at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, in Idaho Falls.
She was born June 2, 1925, in St. John, Idaho to Andrew Melvin and Miriam Monson Talbot. June was raised and received her elementary education in St. John. In 1943 she graduated from Malad High School. She spent the next several years working for the soil conservation offices in Malad and Pocatello.

Dora Darthella Leavitt, 80, of Firth passed away May 25, 2011, at the Gables in Shelley under hospice care.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday June 2, 2011, at the Firth Ward Chapel (744 North 600 East). The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street in Shelley, and Thursday from 9:30- 10:40 a.m. at the church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday May 31, 2011, at the Firth Ward Chapel (744 North 600 East).
The family will receive friends Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street in Shelley, and Tuesday from 9:30-l10:40 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Firth Cemetery.

Lori Elizabeth Hammond, 55

Lori Elizabeth Hammond, 55, of Blackfoot returned to her Father in Heaven on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Portneuf Regional Medical Center in Pocatello surrounded by her family, after a long fight with her health challenges. 
She was born Sept. 14, 1955, in Raymond, Alberta, Canada, to Dale LaRoy Still and Agnes Marie Bourne Still, the eldest of four children and many foster brothers and sisters.

Snake River graduates greet their future

THOMAS — Into a gymnasium filled to capacity with proud parents, families and friends marched 134 graduating seniors at Snake River High School Wednesday evening.
Speaking to her classmates, senior class president Kylee Hale said, "The world is so much bigger than high school."
She continued, "Be a best friend. Overuse 'I love you.' Don't outsmart yourself. Whatever you do, be a good one."
The 2011 graduating class at Snake River has two valedictorians—Sarah Asmus and Jake Arbon. Katie Mathis is the salutatorian.
"Learn, laugh, love," said Asmus. "Experiences provide challenges."
